Is there anything besides Big Bend Brewing out in the Big Bend/Davis Mountains area? Or a bottleshop?

There are like 20 people that live out that way. I was there last weekend, and Big Bend is the only one you will see, granted, it is nice to see some beer on tap.

If you expand the area some (don't know where you are coming from), El Paso has some breweries, Midland/Odessa may have one or two open now, and Kerrville/Boerne area has a couple now.

But, Big Bend is the only one out there for a reason. It's in the middle of effin nowhere.

As far as a bottleshop, I don't know what you are expecting to find there that you can't find in other cities. No one would distribute out there anything special. There are no big cities which means there is basically no demand for a bottleshop.

I had a feeling but thought I'd ask anyway. Thanks for the replies.

It's a good place to grab a beer if you actually know the guy even if they aren't open. He has enough beers in there already....

They won't be open for a couple of months.

High Sierra down the road had some Big Bend on tap and good sunset views.

I know who Tony is living in Austin and going to NXNW but never met him. Big Bend Brewing will work for a visit and I'll bring my own for relaxing by the campfire. As I said, I knew my chances were slim but thought I'd ask.

Are you camping? Staying in the park? Air BNB'ing it?

I recommend bringing everything you need down there as far as wood, food and water go. Otherwise, you will pay way too much for everything.

Restaurants there were packed (in Terlingua), and service sucked at literally all of them. Everything was slow.

Get up early if you want to do the hikes, the sun beats down on you in the afternoon.

If you want to cross into Mexico, it can be fun, but there is nothing in the Mexican village but below average touristy mexican food....that isn't even that cheap. But, it was fun to cross the border in a canoe (you can just walk across it by food if you have water shoes...it's not deep). But, you have to have your passport.

If you do the hot springs, go right at sunrise, otherwise there will be crowds. We watched sunrise there, and it was nice.

Two years ago I had some OK beer at Planet Maria, a bar.

At Hotel St. George there were more options. Food was decent.

The lack of people was the draw for me, the wife thinks I’m a little off for liking Maria so much

Big Bend was awesome. I don’t normally use that word unless the place deserves it!

Edit - Historic Ft George is wroth some time if you like history. The MacDonald Observatory is worth more time if you are into science and astronomy.

Starlight Theater in Terlingua also had 3 Big Bend Brewing taps. And they make some badass smoked brisket tacos

Just don't go there on a holiday weekend as there will be a 2-3 hour wait.

Granted, you can buy some beers from the store in the same complex, watch the sunset, and wait in line for the bathroom while doing so.

Thanks everyone. I’ll hit Big Bend Brewing if there’s time. Greatly appreciate all the info.

This is actually an understatement! I did hit Big Bend which was actually fairly nice. But there is just nothing else there!
