Latest Batch of Hopsmack. Brewed 2/13.

King Sue is the one to grab but this batch is very good as well. I'm intrigued on the King Sue. They have a new batch at taproom but have yet to distro here in IA. If it's anything like the last 3 distro releases in the past month, gonna be legit!

Do you think you guys have enough to make it through the day? If not, any place one could look for announcement of sell out? thanks

Sturbridge will definitely sell out today. Our Norwood location will probably make the weekend. There were only four off premise locations receiving product for the weekend for tasting events (Yankee Sturbridge, Yankee Norwood, and two other retail locations.) From our understanding the rest of the state will receive product next week. We'll announce on our twitter when we sell out. Sturbridge: @YankeeStur & Norwood: @YankeeNorwood

    So...pricing?

    At CBC Belmont:
    Hopsmack 22oz - $15
    King Sue 22oz - $15
    Pompeii 16oz x 4 - $11.75
    Pseudo Sue 16oz x 4 - $12.75

They’re also doing tastings of all of the above, plus Dorothy and Assassin (no Assassin for sale though, lol).

I love TG. I can't imagine them making it in the MA market long term with their current bomber pricing. $14 for a 22 oz beer is completely out of whack. $.64 per ounce on hops is crazy and almost twice as much as Trillium's most expensive hops. They're novel now and will surely sell through quickly but the folks that are consuming this stuff in MA will catch on, I think.

I was hoping Yankee would do an Assassin tasting too, guy said they didn't bring bottles there but maybe I just missed out

My understanding was it wasn't planned and the bottle was just brought as a gift to the CBC Belmont staff but CBC Belmont told them to crack it open for tastings. Was definitely a nice surprise!

Clark tweeted a picture of a suit case full of Assassin a few days back. I would assume this was for gifts and to share randomly while in the area out there.

Yeah, but @Hawkeyejam is right that this batch of Hopsmack is really something. If they could get closer to $10 than $15 and keep what’s on the shelf fresh I’d pick it up regularly. 25oz of an HF DIPA not available in cans is $10, not counting the drive, and I don’t really bat an eye at that.

Fwiw Hopsmack here in Iowa is 11.99 a bomber and most bombers are 9.99-10.99 a piece. They are expensive but they make phenomenal beers .The new brewery is about 2.5 months in. Expect many of their beers to move to canning which will offset the cost a great deal. 4 packs of cans here are 9.99. got to imagine prices will get better as they transition to cans.

    How was the King Sue?

Mike said that the next time MA will see King Sue it will be in 16oz cans. Apparently they have the cans ready but there will be one more batch of bottles because of logo issues with the museum

Nice. The price point should be a lot.nicer then. I saw the batch you guys got was the old label and was worried they might have brought old stock. I figured they were using up labels. The new King Sue batch is at the brewery. My buddy is stopping tomorrow

That is a solid "justification" argument. It cracks me up how skilled we all are at justifying how much we spend on a certain beer. I personally have never felt guilty about some beer I was excited to try. You are not alone.

$10 sounds right though for any really good IPA bomber to move in this area.
