A friend gave me this to try, fair amount of coffee on the nose but very subtle in the taste. Thin mouth feel and at 5.5 % it’s clean and easy to drink. No flavor really jumps out at you just a nice ”sessionable”coffee stout.

I never thought I’d use sessionable to describe a coffee stout. I wouldn’t seek this out and buy a sixer of it but if they had it on draft somewhere I’d give it another try.

Damn...this is good. Great balance, you really still gets the hops behind the tartness and funk.

    Good evening, everyone!

It's been a while since I WBAYDN'd, so I thought I'd kick back with some bourbon barrel-aged Imperial Stouts and drop some posts tonight. First up: Elevation Oil Man.

    Cheers!

Fantastic as usual. Flavors of big toasted coconut, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, vanilla, cream, toffee, dark bread, marshmallow, and light coffee. Light balancing roast bitterness against sweetness; with an amazing creamy/silky/velvety medium body; light touch of sticky/chalky roast character and dryness. Glad it was easier to find this year. Definitely my top favorite coconut beer. Wish this was year round. I bought a full case worth of 4 packs this year. This, Born Yesterday, and Xocoveza are my top big buy beers of the season every year now. Still have plenty left to hold me over for a while. Will grab the Maui and Blackrocks brown again once I run out.

Incredible as always. Got a fresh 6 pack today. Flavors of juicy grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, melon, passion fruit, berry, lemon/orange zest, and light pepper/pine hops; with moderate caramel, toasted biscuit malt; and herbal, floral, grassy hops earthiness. Light-moderate pine/grassy bitterness. Very smooth finish with balanced hop stickiness and bready creaminess in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing bitter dryness, never astringent. Has all the Mosaic and Citra hop flavors I love, with balanced bready malts to make it taste super juicy. Glad I decided to revisit this beer, a top favorite IPA for sure. Need to keep this around more often than I have been lately.

Awesome as usual. Aromas and flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, and pine hops; with balanced caramel, toasted bread malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel, herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; balanced creamy/bready malts and sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Light resins/rinds, increasing bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Amazingly drinkable. Super juicy and lightly dank Chinook/Centennial/Cascade hops; perfect malt balance, never overly sweet/heavy feeling. I love C hops all year, the fresh hops are very obvious with the herbal/spicy quality going on. Grabbed another pack last month. SN IPAs always hold up extremely well, will still taste great for a couple more months at least.

Still tasting amazing! Aromas and flavors of huge milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, marshmallow, graham cracker, vanilla, brown sugar, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, coconut, and dark bread; with lighter notes of roasted nuts and coffee. Light roast/char bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Medium-full bodied creamy/silky mouthfeel; with some light spice stickiness, chalky roast, and oak tannins as well. Lightly increasing bitter/spicy oak dryness. Mildly increasing warmth of 11%, minimal booze. This is just a touch above Coconut Rum Barrel for me. Best one so far by a very small margin. The S'mores flavors are absolutely enormous and authentic feeling; but still great balance of the base beer malt and barrel characteristics. Plenty of barrel presence; the spiced versions like Chai had overpowered the barrel, but that is not the case here.

Still their best album, so progressive.

I don't know if this is Cellarmaker's thing, but there's a new style in SF that they made 3 of. (Social/Cellarmaker, Cellarmaker alone, now Temescal / Cellarmaker / Social). The Brut IPA. Imagine a clean, dry, crisp beer hopped like an IPA, and you'd be close. Kinda like a hoppy pils, where the hops come through more on the aroma than the taste.

This one, Three Cheers, has new-school hop aromatics. With Simcoe, Zeus and Loral, the flavor is actually a bit sweeter in the initial through mid palate than I was expecting, due to the very fruity and a vanilla-like note from the hops. But it definitely finishes dry, leading you to believe this is more like a 5% beer, not the 6.6% ABV it's rated at. Incredibly crushable.

I just came home from a 7 mile run, so there's no beer I'd rather have. Cheers!
