The local we discussed on the previous page nets something like $30,000 per year in revenue reselling JWB beer.

As a customer I'd rather have the brewery make that money than see the someone profit off it on secondary. It'll still be resold, but at least cuts into the flipper's margins (unless we really do see the secondary market turn into the new cryptocurrency).

This is also stuff that wine has been doing since the dawn of time.

Yeah...but...this isn't going to get better with time, and Wakefield doesn't really even have the greatest portfolio of stouts, at least IMO. It's all hype now and that fades rather quickly in today's craft beer world, so they're striking while the iron is white hot af.

For me, Wakefield is about all teh froots. I could take or leave their stouts--anyone paying that much for any beer, let alone a JWB stout, is a fool.

Last year's "It was All a Dream" was one of the best stouts I've ever had personally (includes kbbs b1/all CC stuff/some hf stouts/etc). Best when < 1 year old and kept refrigerated so the coconut doesn't fall off. I am not the greatest of tickers but they were incredible and compared with a lot of other stuff on secondary that is $1500+, they are relative "bargains".

Yeah I can see people hating on the secondary values, but the stouts I've had from Wakefield have mostly been great. No reason to hate on the quality of the beer. I hate saying it too, because I think Wakefield is sketchy as hell, but he makes good beer. That being said, I've been fortunate to get everything I've had from Wakefield at cost. I refuse to buy into this sort of secondary (Miami) madness.

I'm all about that whale game but $1500 seems a little silly.

The way it worked is that one Bake was available for each group of 5 that came in...first one to grab it and then it wasn't available until the next group of 5...this was also the case for the Antique Coco/Blue and the She Neva Seen bottles...I passed on these the only top shelf whale I wanted was It Was All a Dream but they weren't any for sale...

By the time the 3rd/4th group had gone in people were just asking who's getting a bake and re-adjusting their place in line I suppose...now mind you I bet if two people wanted a 750$ bake in the same group JWB would make an exception lol...

If someone ahead of you in the group of 5 wanted bake, you had to settle for an antique or she neva seen. But they let you come back again once everyone else made it through the line. Then you were able to purchase more top shelf, but not another bottle of something you got before.

That' interesting, so essentially you would only be able to get Bake if you were 1st, 6th, 11th...etc? Unless one of those individuals didn' want to shell out the money for it? Then the next person in line would have dibs on it?

Exactly. A lot of people passed on it at the pricepoint. 300 for the antiques seemed more reasonable in comparison i guess

Couldn’t disagree more. Name some 3 year old breweries with better stout portfolios..??

There may be a few but you just sound like a hater.

There aren't many "3 year old breweries" that make great stouts, and a lack of young breweries making great stouts doesn't make JWB stouts great...

That said, I've only had Ay Papi & variants (underwhelming) and Boss Tycoon (just bad). I am willing to try others, but not for $300. I stand by that anyone paying that much for such a young brewery's stouts is a fool. I've got access to world class stouts on the regular in every format, and I'm more than happy with that. If I want a candy bar in my beer I will French press it--I'm not opposed to that in the least
