I’m with @lordofthewiens in that I have a week off with nothing to do other than chill with the family.

I had my 3 month old sleeping on my chest, but my 3 year old just ran into the coffee table. Wailing commenced, 3 month old woke up, father-in-law brought me a beer and a mystery shot.



I couldn’t think of a more aptly named song for the situation:



Gotta love family. Whether they’re crying their eyes out or bringing you booze.

Hidden River definitely did their homework with this brew.

EDIT: Make that a pink bowl of pork rinds (courtesy of the misses who just came home from shopping with her sister and Mom and thought pork rinds would make me not ask about how much money she spent.)

 

Been to the Cycle release. Now in line at Angry Chair, drinking a Mudlark Stout from Charlestowne Fermentory, and having a great time:

Ah, brunch . . .



For me the color is black with a reddish tint resulting in a very appealing combination.

Aroma of dark roasted malt, clean sharp coffee, chocolate and dark ripe fruit.

Flavor on entry is a combination of the scents plus a dark caramel or toffeeish undertone. Very complex, very full rich flavor, all melded together beautifully. I don't get much in the way of hops in the scent but they are definitely present in the taste.

Full texture with balancing carbonation.

This is an excellent beer that sets a high mark for others of this type.

So I've never had an India Stout before, but this was great. Was not expecting the citrus from the hops to blend well in a stout, but it was good. Would definitely recommend.
