I'm sick of "hazy" IPA's . Let's move on already...

Or: He who is smart learns from others' mistakes. He who is stupid doesn't learn even from his own.

In the spirit of @AlcahueteJ getting us back on track with short and to the point controversial statements:

As long as the time is spent in my own fridge under my watch, I don't worry about freshness much at all, even with NE IPAs.

I have not been in the least saddened to watch Amber Ales (as a style, not a color) slowly disappear from tap lists over the past two decades.

Pilsner is King, everything else is inferior (notice I didn't say pale imitation).

Lager will ultimately prevail (there's controversial for you )

I'm sick of people saying they're sick of NEIPA and pretending like it's a new take that no one has had the balls to say yet.

If you only drink NE-style IPAs, you don't actually like beer.

Arguing about which brewery makes the best NE-style IPA is pointless and makes you look like an idiot. There are enough good NE-style IPAs made around the country that your opinion is likely being clouded by the fact you live near the brewery or have a history with it.

Craft Beer is uncomfortably white, straight, and male. The fact that people continue to try to shoot down conversations about show that it's never going to change.

A well made pilsner requires degrees of brewing talent more than a well made IPA.

There's a lot of breweries out there that should have waited a long time to open, or not opened at all.

For sure. I think people's memory gets a little hazy about stuff they've tried and enjoyed from outside of their local footprint.

Yup, exactly my point. For many German styles I won't take the rating at face value.

Sometimes you need to make those mistakes yourself though, so you can ultimately find the answer...before someone else does.

"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work."

    Thomas A. Edison

Oddly there's multiple iterations of this quotation.

It appears my controversial opinion has encouraged a German theme to this thread.

I get a bit miffed at the "I used to drink big BA kitchen sink stouts, but I switched to 4-5% ABV [insert various style] and now I'm better than you" posts I've seen too many of lately.

Many of them come across condescending.

Yes, but those folks have no monopoly on making such or similar posts. Seen many about drinking HiABV or maning up and finishing off a bomber in one sitting.

I would lean toward interpreting the latter as "razzing" but I agree, those could be condescending to some people as well.

Not to argue with your overall point (which I agree with, especially your second sentence) but I've never really thought of "straight" being on the list. Though now that you mention it I suppose I don't know of any openly gay brewers even if I know plenty of drinkers.

We've already talked about this. It's a historical, cultural, and traditional thing. I expounded upon this previously in this very thread. What about white people makes you uncomfortable?

Just to add some nuance to what you are saying without wanting to get into a back and forth, that depends on what you consider historical, cultural, and traditional. For example, brewing used to be associated with women. Ninkasi was a goddess, etc.

    Ouch.

Although I would characterize it less as 'manning up' and more as gleeful, wanton, willful, self-destructive behavior.

There's a danger in thinking that the way things happen to be at a given moment is "simply the natural order of things".

Black people may not like golf quite as much as white people given history, culture, and tradition, but that doesn't mean they weren't specifically kept out of country clubs for a long time, or that some of that history, culture, and tradition wasn't itself problematic to begin with (to say the least in this instance).

What about discussing the issue make you uncomfortable?
