I was handing out the last few wristbands for people to get bottles. There was close to a hundred left just before 11, and my guess is by 11:20 I handed out the last one. Was a surprise to everyone, but I think a lot of people were under the assumption they were all gone early this morning so nobody bothered to check. So next year people might want to keep that in mind.

I volunteered at Darkness Day today. That fire caused quite a panic among the Surly staff and it is an incident like this that could cause everlasting consequences to such an awesome event. As someone who has volunteered at 4 Darkness days and several other events I can say 99.99% of the attendees are class acts.... But all I would take is a couple of Dbags to get this closed down. Sorry to make this post as one of my first on BA I just have to vent. Cheers. Mark

I want to know more about the explosion and fire. I want some drunken stories too, every event has a few good ones.

Unfortunately common sense sometimes goes out the window after being up all night/drunk/just plain stupid to begin with. Hope everyone is having a great time though!! Does darkness make it out into distro/out of the cities so I could possibly score some in Rochester?

For 9oz pours there was Smoke, Darkness, Brett Liquor IPA, Oak Age Bender and Cynic, and tea Bagged Furious. The latter three were casks.

Wish I could have been out there for this one, hopefully I can get a bottle of Darkness from one source, if not I'll have to trade for goodies somewhat readily available in Chicago (I don't have extra hard-to-finds yet, I just seem to find just enough for me to consume!)

Fantastic Darkness Day. Thanks to all the fine locals, those whose ugly mugs I know well & those who I'd never met, for sharing great beer. And Shango42 for offering to whip up brats, burgers, & some fine-ass breakfast sandwiches.

Darkness '12 is fantastic fresh, best right out of the gate since the '09 IMHO.

I think that you will get drunks regardless of when you start the event. I noticed that it was much more laid this morning, not as much drunkinness. Maybe less drunks this morning BECAUSE of people crashing there last night

I agree this was an awesome/smooth event ran by surly and id like to reiterate that most of us Chicagoans aren't drunken stublefucks. Real shame someone would do something like that on such an awesome day

I saw that guy. He was having a very hard time staying upright. Saw him murdering meat with his mouth as well.

This was very well organized and planned out. I take back my statements about organization for next year. It was crazy how much Darkness was available. Had a terrific time this year as I wasnt drunk as piss entering the gate and got to sleep in my own bed and still managed 8 bottles between 2 of us.
The stage improvements, the allotment of beer and beers available on tap at the event were terrific. Seemed like more food trucks present as well. Did not eat at the event but all the food looked delicious, specifically the burgers I saw floating around. Good job everyone.
