    Sam Adams cherry wheat
    ..pours a cloudy amber
Body..medium with above average carbonation that makes it not to pleasant
Aroma... this is the tough part, cherry lifesavers, cough syrup, and an artifical cherry car freshener.
Taste.. definetly sweet cherry, cough syrup, there is some wheat and cracker there but buried under the cherry.
Overall.. I think the base beer could have decent but it's tough to get past the fake cherry smell and taste[IMG]

[IMG] Called Swipe Right a NEIPA at 7.5% ABV from a brewery that opened in September that I didn’t even no existed until last evening. The whole experience was excellent, highly recommended. Pours like a glass of pineapple/OJ and leaves behind loads of thick patches of lace as it slowly settles, leaving thick foam around the edges. 4.5

Smell is guava, peach, pineapple, tangerine, apricot, and red grapefruit rind. 4

Taste follows tropical with some bitterness, apricot, guava, peach, tangerine, and healthy shot of bitter grapefruit. 4.25

Mouthfeel is a big medium, plenty life, not dry but a nice stickyness from the excess hops that scrapes the entire palate, and it drinks pretty easy, but almost appears even bigger than its ABV. 4.5

Overall this is a very nice NEIPA that really has some bitterness to go along with all those tropical flavors, I would say this a very nice beer and I will be looking for more from them. 4.25

This beer comes in trade with @CanConPhilly, swapping hops!
Tired Hands, Alien Church, IPA 7%, pours a hazy orange generating a wonderful head, leaving sticky lacing as we consume this nectar, very pungent aroma, piney, grapefruit a bit sweet also, smooth and slight bitterness. A well crafted beer, hop heads, seek it out.

    Happy NBS, everyone!

It's been a frustrating week here at Casa MacMalt. The two Nor'easters took down lots of trees and wires. We have a whole house generator so power was never a problem but except for a brief period we've been without cable and internet at home for over a week. The security settings in my company's system won't let me login to BA so my only access is my phone. I can make short posts but detailed ones and photos are beyond my ability. I'm with you in spirit today and have made notes on yesterday's two can releases at Twin Elephant Brewing. Both are really good. TE has definitely arrived as a top tier NJ brewer. Hopefully, I'll be able to post both reviews next Sunday. I'm enjoying your posts today. Cheers!

Back with that first new beer of the day, plus some other new beers I had over the course of the week.

Iron Goat unveiled a new brown ale brewed with oatmeal, a little robust at 6.3% but drinking quite easy, as per the style:
Also, I had the pleasure of drinking an Imperial Mexican Chocolate Stout from Fort George:
    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/16077/308152/?ba=woemad#review
Apparently I purged the pic of it from my phone for some reason. Great stuff, though. Extremely well balanced, with the peppers giving off just the right amount of flavor and heat.
Yesterday, while I was digging through my target's ratings, I was sipping on this. It's something I've had draft pours of, but never a bottle:
Sadly, I was having a crappy day at the time. My target has many more ratings/reviews than me. I'm no slouch in that dept, myself, but he's taken it to a whole other level. About an hour in, while multitasking (always a dicey move for me), I managed to drop my phone in a manner that ruined my best phone charger, while just fumbling with it in mid-air, as it dropped, in a way that I closed BA without meaning to, ensuring I'd have to start over combing through my target's thousands of ratings in an attempt to make sure he gets some new beers from me. This experience made me disinclined to review this beer.I will say that while the flavor was outstanding, there were carbonation issues that made the bottled version disappointing.
Today I'm hitting a coffee porter from Seattle:
    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/20680/317221/?ba=woemad#review
Great example of a coffee -added brew that nevertheless stays true to the style of the base beer.

In addition to the hint at the identity of my target I made above, I can also say at least one, perhaps all the beers mentioned or shown above will be making the trip to my target. Time (and shipping capacity) will tell.

Good afternoon NBS-ers and thanks to @cjgiant for getting the thread started today.
It's been a pretty uneventful weekend here, the wife worked all weekend and we pretty much just sat around doing nothing. Ya gotta do that once in a while!

Today's entry comes from Centrail State/Untitled Art, by way of @Tom_V

    Cryo Haze IPA
    [IMG]

Poured from a 16 oz. can into a Snorkel glass. No dating on the can.

Appearance: Opaque, hazy yellow orange body, typical NEIPA look. Frothy head with plenty of lacing left behind in the glass.

Aroma: Bright clean citrus: lemon and grapefruits, melon and a bit of pine.

Taste/Mouthfeel: Non abrasive citrus, light and lemony; plenty of melon. Clean finish with a lingering melon and slight papaya taste.

Overall: A decent IPA that has some really light flavors, but is still satisfying. Something I would drink again, numerous times.

    Cheers!

My fourth new beer of the day is also my most highly anticipated: Evil Twin Double Barrel Imperial Biscotti Break (or DBIBB for those in the know).

The nose is intimidating: big and boozy, with waves of bourbon and wine crashing over a base of brown sugar, maple, and oak. Despite the fearsome booziness, it's deep and inviting.

The old saying, "All bark and no bite," seems appropriate here. After a huge, intimidating nose, this beer silkily slides onto your palate without any harshness. It's impressively sweet; delectable comes to mind.

Flavors evoked include sweet red grapes, brown sugar, maple, salted caramel, cherries, bourbon, chocolate, and coffee. Big mouthfeel, soft and creamy rather than chewy. The sky high ABV is felt as a lingering warmth in the throat and chest, but never on the tongue.

Wow, this is damn impressive, and insanely easy to drink.

    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/24300/317945/?ba=Roguer#review
    4.56 / +1.3%

At 4.56, I feel I'm selling this beer a little short. Then again, it is the highest rated beer on my front page, and tied for my #49th top rated beer of all time. I suppose that's pretty good.

    Cheers!

Happy NBS. For the NCAA March Madness, I guess I'll hitch my wagon to the local team
( Arkansas ), as my teams are either out of it or doomed by seeding ( NC State, Oklahoma & Wichita State ) .

First Up: New Belgium's OSCAR a Flanders Red aged in Blackberry Whisky Barrels, 8.8% ABV. 3.99 overall

Pours an effervescent chestnut with a pinky of tan head. Below average head retention & lacing

    S: Sourness & horse blanket

T: Sourness, blackberry, a little dark & sour cherry, plus woody dryness. More sour cherry, blackberry & dryness as this warms, a little vinegar too. Finishes tart, sour with woodyness, sour cherry & blackberry

MF: Medium body, slight carbonation, builds as it warms

Pretty drinkable, soour enough to hold your attention, but not overpower you

Well, since I've got nothing more to do today than to hover over a pot of red sauce for dinner and then watch the Top Chef finale on DVR, why not follow a 14% Imperial Malt Liquor with a new DIPA? Hopefully I don't fall asleep into my pasta bowl. Or maybe hopefully I do..........

Fort Hill is an interesting brewery here in Massachusetts. Their can labels are absolutely all over the place and they have basically no brand identity that I can tell. But there beers are generally very good and they have clearly made a conscious decision to compete on price as some of their beers are as cheap as $7 a sixer and they max out at $11. Here in the Boston area that's as cheap as things get.

I've liked all of the hoppy beers I've had from them (as well as the non-hoppy ones) but this is a new DIPA they're calling Checkmate Chuck which clocks in at 8% ABV. The can provides no other information about hops, flavor, or conception. Also, they don't date their cans which they've gotten away with so far due to price and the fact that their beer moves pretty quickly, but hopefully they're working towards rectifying that.

It pours a pretty standard for the style, but attractive, hazy honey color and doesn't have much of a head. And what there is dissipates pretty quickly to a very tiny ring. Nose is somewhat subdued, but still has prominent pineapple, lemon and orange notes combined with a light, oaty or wheaty malt smell. I'd have to say the taste is more orange/pink grapefruit and lemon rind now with less of the tropical notes. No detectable booze. Moderate bitterness and a reasonably clean finish. This is also fairly crisp and carbonated for a "hazy IPA".

Good beer that anyone who enjoys the style would be happy to pay $9 for I would think, but if I want a DIPA from them I prefer their Jiggsaw Jazz which just has a bit more "oomph". Cheers!

    Troegs nugget nectar.
    Pours a very clear amber
Body.. felt a little over carbonated but the body still felt a little thin
Aroma.. pine first, malt second, followed by a bit of citrus
Taste..definitely pine first but the malt and citrus showed up. The pine was dominate and lingered afterwards yet it still wasn't over the top bitter
Overall... it didn't come off very complex but very drinkable, perfect for having a few at a party or bbq.[IMG]

Tired Hands Freedom From the Known (2017) - saison brewed with oats, wheat, rye, and nearly a pound of cherries per bottle.

The nose is lemon, band-aid, cranberry, and cherry, and the taste mostly follows. This is enjoyable and complex. Tart lemon and red fruit, with subtle cheese funk and white pepper. The cherry isn't sweet or in your face, but it lingers nicely on the finish. Lemon-lime, cherry, blood orange, and honey. Mild drying oak on the backend. The mouthfeel starts spritzy but ends soft. Under-carbed for the style but rounder as a result.

Overall, very good. This would be awesome on a beach with some fried cod and lemon. Almost like a sparkling wine meets a kriek. 4.42/5

It's a nice brown, but there are some other local breweries you need to become acquainted with. We'll see what shows up in hamsterdam going forward.

I'm riding herd over a bunch of dudes, involved in a Bond themed BIF, who are posting, frankly, disappointingly low numbers of Bond Girl pics in the hints thread.

At least you didn't post a pic of Colin Cowheard, that asshole.
