Impressive show of restraint considering your prior posts.

For as much as people bitched and moaned about the price and how much of a shitshow it would be, it sounded like and looked like, for the most part, a pretty nice event? Outside of Westly running out and getting in, everything I've read sounds like it was pretty fun.

    They're all in denial lol.
Only upside is selling their 4-pack for $100 to cover their admission cost.

Wait, were the 4-packs free or an extra $20?

I think he's talking about the estimated value of the cans.

The festival was a great time! Sure there were a few logistical issues that pop up at every festival but overall the general consensus from my gathering was fantastic beer and a really enjoyable festival overall. I didn't get a chance to try Westly but that's alright, waaay too many stellar beers to worry about one.

It's cool to hate on Monkish because of the secondary market the beer brings in ($$) and the haze bros/lines. I don't care for either but they don't impact me personally or my ability to have a good time at a great brewery. Some folks just like to bitch and moan

One hundread dollars can buy a lot of beer instead of a taste here and there at some anniversary party.

I'd gladly pay $100 bucks again for an event with no-line pours of Double Oaked A Deal With The Devil, pours of exclusive out of state beers (ie Cycle Festival Only), bottle pours of awesome fruited sours (ie de Garde, Jester King, vintage Monkish, SARA), pours of out of state beers which I may have otherwise spent money trading for (Side Project, Holy Mountain, Other Half, Trillium etc), and anniversary teku + surprise 4 pack of hops.

Its funny how most of the people hating on the event didn't attend.

Extreme Beer Fest was $65 pp. I don't remember taking home any giveaways, though tbf I don't remember much beyond the second hour of that event. Valuing the take home beer at $20 and teku at $10 gives you a price of $70 for the Monkish event, which I neither attended nor even attempted to buy a ticket. I don't recall much griping about the price of EBF because the price was fair.

It's funny how people who attended the event think that the people that didn't attend the event are "hating" on said event.
I didn't attend. From everything I've seen and heard, it was a good time. I'm glad people had a good time.
Not wanting to spend $100 on a beer event and voicing that, is not exactly hating.
I guess threads need all kinds right?
People that live that craft beer life and those who don't live the craft beer life as hard.

Criticizing the price of events (or beer, glassware, etc.) equals hate speech.

I'm sorry. I literally LOL'ed here at work at "hate speech". I have people peeking over their cubes at me. Thanks.

Alright folks. No more criticizing on an internet message board.

I suppose the only griping regarding EBF would be that tickets ultimately went up on Goldstar for under $40/ticket.

Not hating on the Monks event either. First, I’m out of the country so I wouldn’t of been able to attend. Second, I don’t do festivals or anniversary events. Just not my thing. I will do an occasional bottle/can release if it’s something I like and want. I will travel out of state or international to check out a brewery/brewery’s I like or that looks interesting. That’s one of the reasons why I’m in Japan right now. Third, I’m not into trying out all these special hard to get bottles/cans of different BA beers that you can’t get in CA. I like good hoppy beers and some stouts & porters. And we in CA have more than plenty these days to keep me and myself hoppy for a long time. I use to trade for east coast hoppy beers. It’s been over 2 years since the last time I did a trade. I go straight to the source these days. And I always bring bottles/cans back with me. I also will bring our great CA hoppy beers with me to give or share with the places I visit. That’s what Im doing on this trip. And I’m probably bringing back more bottles than I should be. The wife thinks I am.
I don’t hate Monks or their beers. I’m sure their beers are good. Again, I was all into this Monks hype when they first did the can releases for the first 6 months. I think there are other local brewery’s putting out much better quality hoppy beers than Monks. And OffSh!te is not one of them. Yes I gave OffSh!te 6-8 months with their sh!te online can releases. That was a mistake. But I know better now. Live and learn. Or is it learn and live?
