Did folks have the same fear last year about the passports? Come on guys, they got this.

The list looks pretty well laid out that there wont be just one thing to get a pour of, which should help with spreading the lines around.

As for bottle shares. I only recall once where folks were doing so back when stasis bottles were pre-online sales and it was very heavily frowned upon and snipped very quickly. The amount of permits and red tape needed to throw an event like this... yeah, any open container/drinking outside of the venue will be shut down fast.

@bottlelogiclindsay any suggestions for those of us just looking to pickup our RFI bottles? hoping for an 'easy' in-and-out. come at closing time? I was also considering bringing a friend and having them wait in the car in case there's no parking, but if the time in line is extra long then that probably wouldn't work.

I agree that I think these concerns are somewhat overwrought (I expect a lot of people to calm down once there is some official announcement about how they will be handed out, regardless of how they choose to do it), but I'm not sure I follow your line of reasoning: passports were unlimited last year, so there wouldn't have been any reason to worry at all, right?

Last year I went to pick up bottles on a Saturday during Week of Observation. The line was several blocks long but someone from brewery walked by asking who was doing pick up only and they escorted us to the back we got our bottles pretty quickly perhaps in and out in 10 minutes. But clearly we could not drink beers it was strictly bottle pick up.

3500 passports, there were ~2000 level up last year. How many people do you think got a passport and did not go the full 7 days? I'd be surprised if even half of them went each day.

Definitely seems worth worrying about, even without growth from last year they'd be running out of passports.

My recommendation would be to strongly consider the full two-week period you have to pick up the order. If you're not interested in WOL but must come the first week, based on last year's attendance patterns I'd suggest Tue/Wed around 2:00pm.

Of course, now that I've made that suggestion publicly, we'll likely see an influx of people around that time...

I won't be at WoL for the beers*, I'll be there for the costumed dogs.

*OK, maybe I'm a little bit there for the beers.

Man, I just want to cruise in for a pour of RFI...looks there won't be any "cruising" while it's on tap. :slight_frown:

What about the costumed people?! Pith helmets, khaki, and weird facial hair anyone?

(I know some of you already have the weird facial hair part down...)

Yeah I'm steering clear all week. Sad to miss some specialties but I'll cheer up opening a RFI bottle and watching Star Wars. Looking forward to the first taste reports for RFI. Anyone get a short fill already?

People at BA Beer Day/Huna Day/Florida apparently got the few low fill bottle tastes.

No, they shared from my singular bottle at Cycle's BA Day. Our very few low fills went to the brew team as spoils of war; Kyle has the Meheen purring these days.

just tell the security guard you are only getting your bottle and they will let u by. However, u will then be walked back out to stand in line for pours.

That's not official. I'm working on a Hunahpu-style pre-loading plan. I'll post about it on Saturday/Sunday when it's tightened up.

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately I’m heading out of town in the later half of the first week so I’ll be limited in the number of options I have for when to pick up. I’ll just have to make it work! Cheers and thanks again.

@bottlelogiclindsay quick question. You guys have always tried to cater to locals...no proxies, ect. But how does holding a portion of the field journals until Sunday opening benefit locals? It seems that would be when everyone from out of town would be there. Am I missing something? I'm sure I am

    Thanks for everything you do.

If non-locals are making the drive from wherever everyday for WoL to be considered non-local, I feel like they deserve it. I mean they'd be visiting the brewery and buying pours at least 19x a year as themselves (7 days WoL and 12 stasis releases). If not local, they're a regular at that point.
