As your lawyer, I advise you to not answer this.

[...Sorry, what’s that? Ok, ok, fine.]

Please disregard, my lawyer says I’m not supposed to pretend to be a lawyer.

Hey "bottle share isn't happening this year" and "they should end the bottle share because I don't like it" guys- shove it.

Last year there didn't seem to really be any bottle sharing outside the gates since they let everyone into that staging area starting at 6:00am. That contained all the bottle sharing inside the fence and kept the area outside the gates clean of bottles. And there were fewer tents and such setup as well since being at the front of line did not improve your chances at a good variant.

With so many years being much more disruptive to the area than last year Munster could have addressed it years ago if they wanted to, especially with the state law that passed pretty much specifically for Dark Lord Day.

From what I understand (and remember reading about in an article regarding bottle shares, open containers, etc. for DLD), when 3Floyds petitioned for all these exemptions/special laws with Indiana state lawmakers, those requests were met with overwhelming approval. The Floyds were like rock stars when they went to Indiana capitol. And Munster understands the kind of cash cow that DLD is. They are not going to fudge that up.

EDIT: Found the article. It was from April 2016 article.

    https://www.dnainfo.com/chicago/201...feature-some-20-different-types-of-famed-beer

    Pertinent info from article:
The so-called “Three Floyds Law” cleared the way for a more than $10 million brewery expansion that added brewing capacity, a state-of-the-art German bottling line and construction of a distillery that’s set to be up and running, well, “soon.”

And earlier this year, Indiana lawmakers passed and Gov. Mike Pence signed the so-called “Dark Lord Day” law that made the customary practice of beer “bottle-sharing” at Three Floyds' annual beer fest legal.

“Bottle-sharing has been done for forever [at Dark Lord Day], but the legality came into question in the last couple years, and now the state has signed off,” Three Floyds lawyer Jeff McKean said.

    It wasn’t a hard sell.

“When I bring Nick down to the hearing to testify, he’s like a rock star to some legislators,” McKean said. “They really appreciate what he’s done, the jobs he’s created and national reputation and notoriety he brings to Indiana. It passed without objection.”

The law wasn’t passed solely for Three Floyds, but provisions in the legislation clearly limit bottle-sharing to craft beer festivals run by a brewery in operation for three years that draw more than 7,500 people, McKean said.

And right now, Dark Lord Day is the only Indiana beer fest that qualifies.

They just changed the law a couple of years ago to allow for bottle sharing at DLD. Would make no sense to abandon it this soon (without a fatality occurring at DLD).

I thought it was Orange Lord.

As much as I like that law for selfish reasons as DLD, it really is BS that they limited so much that practically no other brewery could meet the criteria to allow for it.

Well, it seems DLD has changed venues on May 18 to the Korean DMZ and has been renamed the Dark Lord Summit. Sorry, just trying to keep it light (er dark?), folks.

Moving across the border to Illinois is just not an option, and Munster knows it. The property tax rate in Lansing is just about 20% of assessed value, and that's not a typo. Plus, Floyds has so much invested in land and the buildings/equipment, moving isn't really an option. (at least easy option).

I do like the $0.10 idea...
