Visiting Portland in the fall and hoping to ship some beer home...do any shops offer this service? Is it legal in Oregon?

Yeah, it's completely legal for a store to ship wine (assuming you have the proper license and permits to do so). I know plenty of places in town that offer that service.

That would certainly seem to suggest that it ought to be legal to ship beer as well, but as far as I know (and I could be completely wrong about this), there are no bottle shops that will ship beer for you in PDX.

@lateralusbeer. Most folks from out of state who want to ship beer back home, typically box it up themselves and take the box over to a local UPS or FEDEX store. There are a number of places where you can pick up shipping boxes (for a fee of course). In fact, if you decide you want to go that route, hit me up when you come to town this fall. I typically have a number of shippers kicking around in the garage and will be happy to provide you with some.

    Good luck.

Might not be legal to ship beer at a place like this, the laws between it and wine vary. Don't assume.

Good man. Only if I can buy you a couple pints in return.

Appreciate the offer, but no need to get carried away. I would end up throwing the shipping box out if you couldn't use it, so in a way, you're doing me a favor by taking it off my hands. :sunglasses:

Still, if you want to buy me A pint of something, I likely wouldn't complain overly much.

Depending on which airline you're flying, I'd suggest filling a 6 or 12 shipper and checking it. I've done this multiple times with no problems, and it's cheaper & faster than shipping FedEx (assuming a $25 checked bag fee). Something to consider.

Keep in mind that you can also pick up a pretty decent selection of beer (in bottles, cans, and growlers) past security at PDX & carry it on.
