Anyone have any info or experience with the new rules for walk in customers at FedEx, UPS, and USPS? I couldn't link or copy it, but I read UPS directive that all walk in without label folks will have to open packages. If we refuse they are supposed to deny us service. Apparently this doesn't apply to on line accounts that come in with a label, just when they make the label at time of accepting the package.

I ship w/o using an account for a variety of reasons, and I have a lot of beer to go out in the next two weeks. I am sure some others here might be affected if these rules are being followed by all locations.

But are they? What does anyone know about these rules at all the shippers and what are folks experience with this? According to what little I read this only started very recently. Anyone have info?

A guy I'm trading with from Texas was denied at 2 fedex stores, he had the label already on the box and they wanted to open it.

Sounds like I'll be taking a little break from sending out boxes till the dust settles a little bit

Also, are these third party shipping stores or actual FedEx locations where people are having problems sending boxes?

I haven't shipped a box recently and I don't doubt there maybe some box checking going on, but seems like a logistical nightmare for every box to be opened. First of all, people won't know about this when they get there, they are going to force people to open taped up, wrapped boxes? Then they need to be taped up again. Seems like this would be a nightmare for all involved. Secondly, the people at the stores are not trained security personnel, what exactly are they going to be looking for and how do they know what to look for? Are they going to tear the whole box apart looking for stuff?

I dropped off a pre-labeled box at an actual Fed Ex location yesterday and had no problem at all. Same process as usual and it's on it's way to target. So that's my small sample size here in Central Illinois.

I know you were looking for those without an account, but it would seem silly to me if they allowed me to drop off a box without checking it because I took a few minutes to create an online account.

This was at fedex stores near Austin so not indicative of the rest of the country I would imagine. He was later able to drop it at a 3rd party shop

I have not experienced any issues or changes in the policies or rules. I have, however, discontinued my use of the term "porch bomb" for obvious reasons...

Are FT Prairie BOMB! or ISO Prairie BOMB! acceptable?

I dropped a box off at a UPS store yesterday. They had a big sign saying that you were required to open all boxes. I saw at least 5 other people drop off boxes. Some labels. Some without. They did not ask to anyone to open boxes.

Personally, if I were working counter service there, for what I assume is barely above minimum wage; I would not act as an amateur bomb inspector. I'm guessing the employees felt the same way.

I'm a no account/no label guy and when I shipped a box via UPS last week I was asked to sign a waiver which was a new step for me. This was in Milwaukee, WI. No mention of opening or inspecting, but this was during the hunt for the bomber and prior to the FedEx explosion. Between this and the Reddit forum closure I'm expecting unfavorable changes to come to our little hobby. Unfortunately beer shippers will be forced further underground, but what ya gonna do?

Was asked to open a box in Woodbridge, CT today. No account, no label.
Had to pretend that I didn't know it was illegal to ship beer.

Right now I'm hoping that the fact that the UPS store people know my face and name will help, and there's no inspection because of it. Otherwise I guess I'll have to set up an account.

Just dropped 11 boxes off at USPS. No change from previous experiences. Asked anything hazardous, I said no.

    All were priority shippers.
