I enjoy the Mystic but that's after I shed the notion of it being a German pils and set that aside to enjoy the toasty malt character.

I really hope we don't see an IPA-fication/milkshaking of lager beer. This is from someone that said that zwickel/keller beers would be the new thing due to their quicker turnaround time vs regular lagers. I want more people to make them and I want more people to make them well.

    Both of you get out.

Edit: Whoops. Totally thought I was in the Pilsner thread hahaaaa. But still. Stop that.

Picked up a 4-pack of Springdale Yawp, sixer of Zero Gravity Keller, and a single of Rock Art's Gruit at Vinnin yesterday. Haven't tried the gruit yet, but always excited to find anything of the style outside of on-tap at CBC. I haven't loved all of Springdales IPA/PA, but I really enjoyed Yawp - a nice balance between NE and west coast. The keller was pretty good - I had it after an Exhibit A Fourteen so I'm not going to pass final judgement until I have another can with a fresh palate. Mouth feel wasn't on par with JAs Kellers.

Found an Idle Hands Kill Your Idles: Tropical lurking in the back of my fridge. Digging it.

I really like the diversity of Idle Hands' lineup and damn, it's all quality. Definitely one of the most underappreciated breweries in the region in my opinion.

Galaxy four seam was available in the fridges of nasty nonnis in Saugus this evening

The quality of their beers has noticeably improved (to me anyway) since they've settled into the new brewery, and yes, it's a fun lineup. I picked up a four pack of First Pitch at Pemberton farms the other day. Belgian IPA with rye, the Belgian aspect is pretty subtle, and it's a little more old school bitter/pine with the hops, which I like in a maltier IPA that also already has some fruit coming from the yeast. Tasty brew, and while I enjoy the IPAs they make in the standard contemporary style too, I like that they're willing to do a weird offbeat style IPA too.

Yankee Spirits had some more Foreign Objects cans in yesterday. What a nice surprise these guys are. So far I've had their Melba/Topaz hopped NEIPA, Willful Delusion of False Perceptions (what is this a Tree House stout?), and I will certainly be buying it again next time I see it. Great beer.

I’m in SE VT, stopped into the Brattleboro coop to check the current selection, decided I would pick up some Foley Bros. Skeleton Crew... left the beer case to grind some coffee and when I came back it was gone! Didn’t realize it was the last 4 pack. Mad about it all day. Lol

Always, ALWAYS grab when you plan to buy. Made that mistake once myself.

    Founder Solid Gold is spectacular.

Maybe the cycle of beer drinking does like this:

Macro/Inexpensive --> Accessible craft --> Obscure craft --> Snobby craft --> "Eh, I'm over waiting in lines and overpaying for the latest craze, let me just grab this house lager here" --> "Hmm, an american adjunct lager made by Founders? Yes, please." --> Back to macro/inexpensive

For those in the Somerville/Cambridge I was surprised to go into Reliable Market in Union Square and find Galaxy 4-seam, Foreign Objects, Second Fiddle, ect. I know that in Boston area most of these beers go fast so I found my new shop.

Also, Total Wine in Everett has like 5 cases of Nightshift's Buzz for $12. Not in the cooler though so I passed since it has probably been sitting out for over a month.

I keep trying to sell myself on only purchasing Miller High Life and Guiness. I'd be perfectly content with just those two.

Picked up a few adjunct-laden Evil Twin imperial stouts from CBC Fenway today. Black as Midnight on a Moonless Night (lactose/coffee/passionfruit/mango), The Stout that You Like Is Going to Come Back in Style (chili/vanilla/cinnamon/cocoa nibs), and Imperial Biscotti Chili Hazelnut Break (coffee/chili/hazelnut/vanilla). Brewed at Overshores, Thimble Island, and Two Roads, respectively.

So... did you take out a second mortgage this morning and have most of it lying around waiting to be spent?

Ha! The Imperial Biscotti Chili Hazelnut Break wasn’t that bad for an imp stout. I think it was $5.50 for a single 16 oz can (less per unit for the 4-pack). The others were something like $7.50 and $9.50 for 16 oz cans. Pricey, but still cheaper than Affogato/Tiramisu. Probably wouldn’t have picked those two up if Evil Twin imp stouts didn’t have such a great track record with me.
