Sorry you didn't find us! We were definitely there. We were by the dock doors of one of the businesses, probably about 1/2 way back from the gates. We brought like 18 growlers and quite a few bottles of Assassin. Hope to meet up with you in the future!

    Cheers

Got in line around 630 pm (after dinner / drinks at Town Hall, picking up an IP trade for Masterski and a pricey stop at Zipps), were totally set up by 7. Hung out with some great folks from the Twin Cities and Chicagoland (fellow BA Dvelcich randomly was standing next to a guy he went to high school with and hadn't seen in almost 10 years) who shared great MN beers that we hadn't tried as well as life restoring french press coffee and tea.

Loved the organization that Surly and its volunteers put into this event from parking / traffic control, information availability, port a potty placement, and the line control in the morning. Really shitty about the two douchebags from Chicagoland who got kicked out and decided to commit arson before leaving, glad that a shitty situation wasn't worse. Heard from a friend who volunteered that the cleanup from that was interesting to say the least.

Only advice / request for next year would be larger / more trash areas. Our group was lucky to have a trash can (and a local business dumpster) to throw all our garbage into, but others left that for the volunteers on Saturday.

Highlights from the night: Kicking ass at Contra on the 50inch TV setup, having Omar's dad come and hang out by the table until Omar came to pick him up, Dark Lord + French press coffee at 330 am, an easy to deal with morning line / bottle pickup, the gambling nail game outside the bottle purchase exit which we need to institute at future tastings, grabbing pours of Cacao Bender from the keg that Omar dropped off right next to where we were hanging out after the wristband allocation was over.

Many of my friends said it was the most fun they had at a release event last year, and I now see why that is the case.

    Cheers!

lol. I can remember a chunk of them and they were pretty damn memorable and a few forgettable. This was everything new I tried from Thrus to now.

Had to work Saturday, finally got to the brewery and got in line around 5pm for bottle sales. Line was long, didn't get out until around an hour later. There were still probably 100 people behind us in line, but it seemed like everybody who wanted some got their beer. Everybody was well behaved, albeit some people looking like they were about to fall over from lack of sleep.

The one regret I have is only buying one bottle! I'm still sitting on 4 bottles from last year, wasn't expecting much from this years version. Cracked it open last night, I have to say this is probably my favorite version since 2007! Hopefully I'll be able to pick up another few when it hits the stores.

Good times as always, strongly considering showing up early and waiting in line next year after missing out this year. Cheers to Surly and the BA community.

Thank you Lobo for the bottle opener and the taste of 07 Darkness, also hosting the best beer "table" (or truck bed). Thanks to Greg from Nosh for the awesome pork sandwiches. It was fun to meet my Penguin3200 brethren. I was much more well behaved this year, and was able to try some outstanding beers. One of my favorite moments was watching the beer opening by Lobo's truck on Saturday morning. I was only a spectator, but whatever that was, whomever put it together, it was awesome. Christmas for beer geeks! I should say it was awesome until Penguin3200 had some guy pour some Ghost Face Killah into my glass and laughed as I took a swig.
Came by myself, and started hanging with a great group of guys from MN/WI (lit202, allouez86). Drank a lot of Serendipity with them. So much fun, even going by myself.

I was the GAC guy. We were equally as grateful that you fellas took down that wall and shared the fire pit with us. My jacket and gloves still reeking of smoke is a small price to pay for that beautiful warmth. Thanks, fellas!

There were six at the front gate available for use prior to 11am. None of them had any problems, at least as far as I could tell. In any case, I would bet that things will change a bit with them next year due to the issues other places.

My truck is getting more popular by the tasting. Maybe it should get its own BA account.

I had an absolute blast at Darkness Day! Thanks to Mista for the ride! Thanks to everyone at all the tasting tables and Lobo's tasting tailgate with the pulled pork from Nosh it was amazing! Camped next to tjshippen and his friend who's name I forgot you guys were hilarious and it was fun wondering drunk as shit to the "wasteland" at 1am. Gpawned and Shoo65 shared some very rare and tasty beers with me. It was great being able to put faces with avatars/BA names. Ed and everyone from Heritage Liquor were fucking awesome and very hospitable had one of the darkness dogs with darkness mustard and habanero pickles it was stellar! Backfat big shout for letting me try the Bourbon Barrel Darklord #1 beer I have wanted to try FOREVER! Thanks to Surly for a smooth and wonderful event. Hope to see Everyone next year!

Thanks for all the good beers you and your Chicago crew brought along and shared. We definitely had a nice tasting table going. We'll have to try Darkness + French Press Coffee next year!

This was my first trip to Darkness Day, first trip to any bottle release actually, and I was amazed at the amounts of generosity and kindness that was on display throughout Friday and Saturday. This was such an amazing event and I am very glad that I got to meet so many amazing people and try so many different amazing brews. I will be sure to make my way back next year. Surly did an amazing job! Lobo, my buddy participated in your beer christmas as I like to call it, and that was probably the coolest thing I have seen. I will be sure to participate in that next year. Hope everyone made it home safe and cant wait to see some familiar faces at future events.

    Cheers!
