A simple IPA, made some delicious veggie fajitas. Seemingly, a nice relaxing evening lied ahead.

And then I went and did this...

I had this on tap at Rev, but this is my first can from the four pack. It sits at a perfectly reasonable 17%.

Delicious. Pure black pour with dark mocha foam. Recedes immediately to nothing and leaves no lacing. The aroma is superb. Bourbon and whiskey notes obviously are prominent, but don't overpower the complexity of the beer. Notes of oak, chocolate, vanilla, brown sugar, char, spice. Taste matches the aroma. Again, plenty of bourbon and oak. But the notes of chocolate, spice, and vanilla shine. Medium-full body, low carbonation, dry finish. There is some alcohol heat on the finish, but surprisingly easy to drink. A gem from Rev.

Going to sip this one slowly. Need a slow jam. Cheers again BAs.

Had a nap, time for a beer. Waiting for Mama & Lil' Brother to bring my oldest Son in from Oklahoma, he gets 48 hours off & a ride home from TX. Will be happy to see him. Bentonville Brewing's Lil' Wrecker IPA, 6.3% ABV

If you ever pass thru VA stop near the coastal waterways and try VA oysters. Oysters from the Rappahannock are outstanding.

There is one place we frequent whenever we can called Merroir (they made up the name but it must mean something). Three types of oysters. A little pricey but outstanding food right on the water.

Pretty nice day out. It seemed warmer than it was - still adjusting to these spring temperatures rising. Finished a book at coffee earlier; The Home-Maker (pure 1920’s Melodrama - not bad). Now onto this; a beer that has me craving it because of these nice warm temps.

It’s my favorite time of the year; baseball season has started, while the Hockey season is going to get down to the nitty gritty. Kings vs Ducks tonight should be a blood bath.

    Cheers players!:

That's the thing - this beer landed via a brewery in Connecticut, and was contract brewed by a brewery in New York. It's still okay, but not fantastic, sublime, or craze worthy.

Still, I agree that most NE IPAs in my area of the Midwest are not good. BKS being the exception.

I think there might be a bar at the actual casino with three Floyds. I did take the entire day off work

Very good. Fantastic head retention and thick soapy lacing on the glass. Flavors of lemon, grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, mango, melon, berry, citrus peel/zest, mint, green pepper, and pine hops; with moderate honey, white bread dough, biscuity malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Similar/muted aromas. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel, herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; creamy/bready/grainy malts and some sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Very easy drinking, 6.5%. Never aggressive. Interesting hop profile from HBC431, in combo with Centennial. Kind of Loral/Lemondrop feeling. Juicy and lightly dank citrus/earthy hop complexity; sizable bready malt backbone, but not overly sweet. Unique and very enjoyable. 3.81

English Barleywine from Italy. Damn this was interesting, peat bomb I was not expecting. Awesome head retention/lacing for the style. Aromas and flavors of big wood/peat smoke, caramel, honey, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, raisin, plum, fig, orange zest, leather, tobacco, brine, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Very mild herbal/grassy hop bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; very creamy/silky/bready malt mouthfeel; light sticky hops. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness. Very drinkable, minimal warming 8%. This was completely out of left field. They could have at least mentioned it was smoked on the label! Tastes like a scotch barrel aged barleywine. I really enjoyed more as I finished the glass. 3.81

Another one from @The-Adjunct-Hippie. This was outstanding! Aromas and flavors of big lemon, peach, pear, melon, red apple, coriander, peppercorn, clove, sage, rosemary, hay, straw, herbal, floral, and grass; with moderate wheat, cracker, white bread dough malts; some yeast earthiness and light musty funk. Moderate peppery yeast spiciness; light herbal/grassy bitterness and yeast tartness on the finish. High carbonation, light-medium body, and moderately crisp finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malt and sticky hops/yeast in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing spicy/carbonated dryness. Very flavorful/refreshing, 4.7%. Damn I am not even sure if they spiced this at all, but the saison yeast complexity is absolutely amazing and spot on. This is basically a grissette at the ABV. They nailed whatever they were going for. 4.15

Transient A La Carte Reality DIPA. Brand new release by these guys...Citra, Mosaic, and El Dorado hops. Bright and juicy up front with a surprisingly nice dose of bitterness on the back end to balance it all out. This is outstanding.

Hands down best Julius I’ve had since Monson! Glad to see they’ve dialed it in-after scaling it up!

Also, watching a music documentary on Showtime: New Wave: Dare to be different. Good stuff!
