Good morning BA, have a great Saturday! Not much going on today. Supposed to get some rain and wind later on.

This is still tasting amazing. Glad I stumbled upon another bottle recently. Aromas and flavors of huge chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, brown bread, pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and clove; with light notes of molasses, raisin, cherry, fig, dates, and oak char. Increasing boozy aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Light-moderate roast/spice bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; balanced silky/bready malt creaminess, spice stickiness, and bourbon/oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Slightly chalky, slick, and syrupy. Lightly increasing bourbon/oak/spice dryness. Fairly warming lingering finish, mildly boozy. Pretty much perfectly balanced between dark/roasty malts, pumpkin/spices, and bourbon barrel flavors. Never overly boozy or drying from tannins. Dangerously smooth sipper for near 19%. Still plenty of Rumpkin around locally from the 2016 batch. Too bad they retired this one, but they have a rum barrel coconut porter coming later this year to replace it.

This is tasting insane! Found another bottle off the shelf recently. Amazing lasting head retention and lacing the whole glass. Aromas and flavors of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, caramel, toffee, cherry, licorice, vanilla, toasted dark bread, smoke, and charcoal; with lighter notes of oak, red wine, raisin, plum, fig, leather, tobacco, bourbon, and peppery/piney hops. Light-moderate roast/char and piney/spicy hop bitterness on the finish. Light touch of tannic wine tartness. Medium carbonation and very full bodied; very creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel; light slickness, sticky hops, and chalky roast. Lightly increasing lingering hop/char bitter dryness. No acrid/astringent flavors. Dangerously smooth sipping, mildly warming 12.2%. Just as amazing as it ever was for me, complexity and balance is simply off the charts. I have been more impressed with most of the single barrel variants, but the base beer always delivers amazing results. I should buy more than I do every year. It ages gracefully. Will definitely get some more soon.

Lovely cool 66 degrees for walking the dogs this morning. Strong cool breeze out of the NE. Light jacket weather. Today’s coffee comes from @scream - “Uber Joe” by 3 Sheeps Brewing, Sheboygan WI:

Coffee and a whisper of vanilla in the nose. Coffee, cocoa nibs, bitter sweet dark chocolate with a touch of oak; poured at 54 degrees; not getting any maple, but the coffee is strong and tasty. Light feeling for an Imperial Stout and the 10% is well hidden. Some wooden dryness on the finish. Reminds me of Peche Mortel, only more dry (likely from the staves). An excellent coffee forward eye opener.

My local bar/bottle shop has its monthly share this afternoon, and a friend from one of the breweries is meeting me later for stout tasting at Cycle. I foresee another “Uber” or 2 in my future today. Have a great Saturday y’all!

Some mornings I'm more contemplative about beer than others. Today is one where I'm not . . .

Light gold color with white cap.

Mild sweetish aroma of light grain and something fruit like.

Taste of mild grain, flowery and noticeably sweet, with an underlying peach like fruit presence. A touch of hop bitterness in the finish and aftertaste.

    Light-medium texture with balancing carbonation.

Overall it's a mild, fruity, sweet (brewer mentions lactose sugar from milk) brew deriving (I think) more flavor from the ale yeast used than from the grain. It's pleasant, inoffensive and clean. My AAL drinking friends would love it.

Word is spreading about The Brewing Projekt. The store that I go to posted receiving a shipment from them, which included Dare Mighty Things variants, this week. I went to the store as soon as I saw the post, but they apparently sold out immediately. The only thing remaining was this delicious stout that tastes like a candy bar. I am going to have to be quicker on my toes, going forward, to get Dare Mighty Things.
