Been looking forward to Oberon coming back, went to opening day at a local craft beer bar.

Purchased a 12 pack. A flat taste on the sip, then an odd metal lingering aftertaste against the back of your tongue.

I called Bell's and also submitted a quality report online.

Wanted to warn everyone. Brewed 03/13/2018. Batch 20846

Well thanks for the info. Curious to see what Bells has to say or if any more gets reported.

What is a flat taste? Beer was flat?

Never been a fan of this beer , just don't get what it's all about

    Enjoy

I liked this beer several years ago, and I hate to be that guy, but it seemed to me that something changed. I had a pint today, didn’t care for it, not sure why, but it tasted off

Not one of my fav beers like it once was but I can still appreciate a few each year. I had a few a few days ago and it tasted just as it always has. No issues with the ones I've had.

Picked up a 12 at $14, tasted just as expected, nothing off here.

    Fantastic beer, priced well

Damn I hope not.... I need Oberon when the 80+ degree temps roll in. It's probably my most drank beer of the year

Why would he/she come on here to "warn" us when they haven't used this site in 10.5 years? It sounds like someone is mad at Bell's and this is the perfect time to throw them out there since Oberon is a seasonal release.

Bought my usual it's Oberon season sixer that I like to buy when they first appear and it tasted and looked like Bell's Oberon.

I wasn't aware that Bell's uses a Brewed On date. This is quite against the norm.

Well, you enter the Batch Number at the Bell's site and it will tell you when the beer was brewed.

Funny thing is, I typed in the O.P.'s provided batch number and I get the reply: NO RESULTS FOR THAT BATCH NUMBER, SORRY! Curious.

Oh I was not aware, but I still was on the right track all the same it seems.

Yeah, it is pretty unusual (except for a very few limited beers that are brewed on a specific day, like Samichlaus' "December 6: St. Nicholas Day") and Bell's FAQ even notes their code is not one of them:

I had a sip of my wife’s draft Oberon on the introduction day last Friday (not in MI), and it was like I remember, maybe better as the orange esters were definitely there, no orange slice.

They sent the return kit right away, I sent 3 in by dropping it off at the UPS store (they only wanted 3 back).

They said they would contact with me with the results, but instead this week they sent a box full of stickers, pins, different types of coasters, and two really nice bottle openers.

I am going to email the contact guy and ask what they found.

For those that asked why this was my first post, I never had anything worth sharing before.
