Junior and I saw Wrinkle in Time today. Not great, but not as bad as I thought it might be. Now having predinner beer.

Pre gaming with today’s Wow! beer - 3 Sheeps Brewing’s “Veneration”, a Belgian Style Quad Ale with Figs & Molasses Aged in Rye Whiskey Barrels:



I had been warned that this beer was big and tasty...both were understatements! As I sip, I single peck (as always) my notes on my iPhone...

Ruby brown pour (24+) at 56 degrees; Fizzy Quick off-white/lite beige head with good clarity underneath it; solid ring; moderately heavy lacing; micro dot bubbles for a rather lengthy thin cap on a quad; medium glossy legs sheet the glass upon swirl after swirl. 4.75

Aromas of molasses and brown sugar, a whiff of booze (whiskey?) followed by sugary raisins ... read boozy and sweet 4.25

Sweet figgy entry, like jam preserves Grammy made; sugared raisins, molasses, candy caramel, sticky sweet malt base; alcohol and barrel presence; figgy finish. 4.5

Medium full warming mouthfeel (13.2%); smooth satisfying velvety feel; moderate minus carbonation; some barrel dryness in the finish. 4.5

A Wow! Beer!; still sipping and writing and my thought is I’m drinking a sweeter, figgier Trappistes Rochefort 10 with a drier boozier taste/feel; dry rye barrel and sugary figs linger...I don’t want the glass to empty. 4.5

I’m rarely moved lately to wax effusively about a beer (and write a review) but I’m happy to do so in this instance...thank you @scream, a stellar beer, and you were right - this beer is worthy!

My mom and dad, now departed, possessed multiple degrees between them from Michigan...I’m sure they’re watching ... Go Blue!
