Touché, salesmen. Instead of cash, maybe you'll have to donate your firstborn stormborn dragon fetus?

Anyone have a good idea of how much money they spend AT DLD? Including beer, food, souvenirs, water, anything else?

I did $45 transportation costs, including Jaks shuttle.
    $15 taps.
    That was all.
Brought all my own sandwiches/snacks, did bottle shares. This year you will have to budget for food.

Depends if you’re in the market for overpriced merch and waxed bottles of coffee. If so, bring more.

Just beer and food? Bring less.

Going on a work trip at the end of April to Burlington, VT. Hoping to bring back a lot of fresh stuff to share this year along with a few heavy hitters.

2016 I drank so much water, I had to pee down the inside of my rain suit while in line for my bottles. It was like Andy Dufresne getting rid of dirt in Shawshank.

I've always taken in tons of water. Per the banned food thing, is that a new addition to the rules? I've always had a backpack of sandwiches, snacks, etc. and never a problem. Much like the 72oz limit, and given the people hired out for the event, I am skeptical that it can/will be enforced. Just imagine the logistics and time wasted counting how much beer is in each bag.

Other comments hit on this well, so you should clarify what you are after - taps, glassware, merch, secondary bottles, etc. I'm from the area, so I have a car packed with food, water, beer,I spend no more 50 bucks- usually just on taps, a few cups of coffee, extra food.

Somewhat related, I enthusiastically endorse getting a coffee, scone, and/or sandwich at the Grindhouse food truck - a great local coffee shop that makes living in NWI suck a little less.

    Band update:
Amber Smashed Face was re-released today.
Cannibal Corpse is in between Europe and Mexico/S. America tours.
Most every band they've collaborated with has played DLD at some point.
Amon Amarth was a huge band last year, this year has to be bigger

    I think it's so!

Cannibal Corpse is playing at DLD this year.

Agreed that Amon Amarth will be hard to top. I think even people not really into metal could watch them and still enjoy the show.

I was really thinking At the Gates would headline this year after they announced they'd be at the Decibel Metal/Beer fest, but given the amount of time between that event (last weekend) and DLD, it seems unlikely, especially with no N America tour between.

Corpse would be pretty great, and I agree rereleasing Amber Smashed Face could be a subtle hint.

Sleep will be in Europe the week after, so I guess High on Fire could still play.

I also have my money that Power Trip will play. They'll be in Chicago on the same day and could pull two shows like EHG did a few years ago. Plus, if Corpse plays, Power Trip toured with them.

Semi-related speculation - Just saw Sleep is playing Copenhagen on May 23rd, so I suspect we won't get another round of High on Fire this year. Bummer.
