I'm in finance and would never be allowed to "work from home". Guess I just don't see the world as the way it might be now.

i usually work from home 2-4 times a month (internet marketing). I'd prefer to do it way more often. My 3-4 hour round trip commute into my office is just wasted time when I rarely meet clients in person.

I kinda like having a long commute. It gives me more time to read.

I'm 60/40 going to go/not go at noon. If I do end up going I'll provide some live-coverage of the scene. I do want to try these supposedly legendary J. Wakefield stouts; the untappd ratings are stellar, but to be honest, I thought the Monkish beers from the February takeover weren't as good as their untappd ratings suggested, so I'll see if that's the case with these stouts, or if they live up to the hype.

If I didn't have a client meeting and an new employee training in the afternoon I would totally be considering taking the afternoon off. I was debating trying to trade for DFPF when it didn't end up making it here for FP2.

That's true, I am reading much more than I ever have. However, there are a lot of other things I would like to do if my week had an extra 15-20 hours .

That’s fair. It’s certainly draining. I guess I’ve grown to cope.

I work in commercial real estate finance. More flexible than when I was in straight finance. I could work from home pretty easily and/or take a couple of hours off to go to the release, but I’m saving those matches for other stuff

If it gives you any reference, I work in tech, most of my deadlines are self imposed, rest of my company is distributed across the world, and I absolutely never ever deal with clients. Assuming it’s the same situation for many.

I did say "as opposed to finance", I know finance is more traditional and you need to be in the office at a certain time.

Lol I worked in the tech industry for several years and it was never glamorous. Company perks like "Takeout Tuesday" or Friday afternoon beers are nice and all, but it's all subterfuge to enforce always available employees (on top of the typical 9am - 6:30pm work day). Why should we give you a decent pay raise when you have a beanbag chair and a ping pong table no one uses!

It's soul sucking. No wonder I turned to alcohol.

Amen. Working at many of the big tech companies is too often an infantilizing experience meant to strip you of all external focus/desire/attention beyond your work, workplace, and coworkers. Worked at one myself for two years and couldn't deal with it... All the flexibility/autonomy, free snacks, video game lounges, in-office showers, hackathons, etc. seek to evoke this 'no-parents-allowed-teenage-sleepover-party' vibe under the guise of work/life balance, employee convenience, and corporate benevolence in an effort to distract from the reality of 16+ hour work days that extend far beyond stated hours. The common trope of ageism in tech is driven by this, as many younger engineers are more susceptible to and easily manipulated by these perquisites. It definitely works for some people, but it's not as glamorous as it sounds (though some startups and smaller companies have it figured out better than the larger corps).

Alright, back to beer... Space Daydream is excellent. I'm not the biggest fan of the oat cream treatment and often find the oats, in particular, mute the hop intensity that I enjoy most in the non-creamed versions, but this is right there with DDH Space Diamonds as one of their best, IMO.

IIwas at the J.Wakefield brewery in Miami two weekends ago and the best things they had on tap was the golden ticket (10oz for $13). When that kicked, they swapped it with Mount Stoutmore.

This is insane that the taplist at OH has better JWB beers than what it had at the brewery itself.

Stout heaven approaches and I’ll be sadly missing this.

On another topic, I finally got to try Green City tonight. So this is the new flagship IPA? I’m a fan. I can see why they went this route on the look of the beer alone. Most taplines in most bars don’t have anything that look as hazy and cloudy and bright orange/yellow as this. It’s definitely an eye catcher. That and it tastes amazing. Perfect combination for atttacting attention. The hype train doth continue.

If you read the Terms & Conditions section on their website, section 4 (iii) suggests they believe they can enforce a $100,000 fine or two years of jail time, via The Equitable Purchasing of Consumer Goods Act of 1974. I’ve never heard of anyone testing that, but I’d also point out that Triple Cream is phenomenal and so potentially worth a go
