Ever find yourself standing before a stocked shelf/wall of taps, overwhelmed by the sheer variety of old, new, or untried offerings, and then come to the point that you just say: "Fuck it, I'll have a ________"?

My question is: do you go for something tried-and-tested; something that may seem outrageous and/or potentially disappointing, but is new and comprises a "tick"; something in your preferred/favorite style; or something else altogether?

I usually go for a few new ticks and end with a familiar favorite.

When I run into that situation I go for something that I have never had before. If I like it than I found something new to seek out. If I hate it than I learned not to seek something out.

Price is a determinant for me. I'll drink a beer that I know I love if I'm paying $5. I'll venture out during happy hours and specials, or if it's rated high on BA.

Well I don't go to bars all too often, but numerous times it happened to be Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro tap. Its shocking how many times I have seen it on nitro. Other than that: Reds Rye/Two Hearted/Centennial in random rotation

Depends on fundage. Close to pay day I go untried and or outrageous. Brokenness I look for the 4-5-6 dollar bombers that could be hidden gems. Long Trail Coffee Stout... You Win for best beerI settled for... Nearly ever

Fuck it, I'll have a Yuengling. It is usually not due to sheer variety, but a lack thereof.

Also, this. 90% of the time if I'm at a bar it's because I was forced into some situation with my redneck brother-in-law at a bar acts like I'm in the Taliban if I ask if they have SNPA.

Really depends where I am. A beer bar and I am likely to choose something new, a restaurant or a bar with a smaller, more everyday type beer menu and I am likely to choose a staple, preferably Odell's IPA.
