So is it green bell peppers or green peppercorns that you're all talking about? If the vegetable, have any of you honestly eaten a raw green bell pepper recently? If the spice, why green peppercorns specifically, and not white, pink, or black?

Green bell pepper. Yes, I eat raw green bell peppers sometimes. I got cru-all-day!

Hmmm. That sounded much better in my head.

Not uncommon. Not sure if they'll be up on Sunday as I've never gone, but I've had BA and vintage DL on tap the week after @ FFF.

Nah, they had multiple variants on the week after DLD last year.

Really?! A few people have said that now. We went right when they opened the day after last year and there was nothing. Just regular Dark Lord (I actually passed on it, too hungover for the sugar) and Oil of Gladness for big dark beers. I had a mother of dreadnaught and a few zombie vs unicorns (honestly one of my favorites from the day before). Do they just roll them out slowly over the next week or what? Also if they have all these left over variants on draft, why the hell don't they put more on during the fest?!? I wanted to try chemtrailmix so bad last year but of course by the time I got up there it was tapped. I think I only managed one variant on tap last year (muerte).

They've definitely had random variants on tap at the brewpub throughout the week after DLD. I remember last year Ronaldo being on at one point. If you just check on Untappd periodically the check-ins that are occurring at the brewpub, you'll see what variant is popping up.

But yes, I'd much rather see those variants available on draft at DLD.

because DLD is metal AF. or, you know, bottle the variants so that everyone gets a variant instead of vintage dark lord bottles.

i have gone the day after dld and they had regular and vintage available but no variants while i was there.

    Regarding variants:
In 2016, I was fortunate enough to be purchasing at the variant draft tent line when Ronaldo blew and Handjee was tapped to replace it so I got to purchase both. I thought both were excellent.

In 2017, my wife and I both got ChemTrailMix. I traded one for a De Muerte. We shared ChemTrailMix with some friends as part of my Pelotonia.org bottle share fundraiser and all who sampled it myself included thought it was amazing. I have not opened the De Muerte yet. It is resting with the 2016 Handjee bottle I picked up.

I would like to try FVM at some point. Hopefully someone will have a bottle to share either at my hotel or during the festival. I also hope they bring back the variant only tent. If I remember correctly, variants were tapped at different tents last year.

different tents makes more sense to me. spread the love / thin the crowd out.

was Handjee available on draft last year? I don't remember hearing anything about it..

The years of one tent for special stuff made for a long line, bolder line cutters, and not a great experience.

What they should do is put draft variants in the bottle pickup area and allow you to purchase one or two before they kick you out and you can never get back in.

This. That would be great. Also a bonus to early groups or people in line early. Also would keep lines lower.

This will never happen. Would just back up that area as people hem and haw over what to purchase which would then revert back to the days of interminable bottle pick-up lines. FFF staff are always getting people out of that area asap which I think has helped with the lines being a non-factor these days.
