2000 was a good year

 

I would like to send a huge thank you to @Coronaeus for the second 5,600 mile trade.

Last year I asked for help to obtain some Canadian merchandise and beers and @Coronaeus volunteered to help. Since then, we completed 2 trades with a third in the process. Thank you friend, you are a true gentleman. Without your help I wouldn't have tried these beers from the other side of the world.

Good Morning BA
To celebrate the 2000th edition of WBAYDN, I'm having my 400th beer on BeerAdvocate exactly 365 days post bottling.

My math teacher wife would be so proud (except for the day drinking part). I held off on this one as Bigfoot is a bit hot for me fresh.

This beer has really come together well in the bottle. Less raw than Bigfoot, while still bitter, and a little more complex. Now the real question, do I open the Fuller's collaboration tomorrow or wait another year. We'll see what life brings...

Yet another rainy day here in NW PA - at least I should harvest a good algae crop this year! Today's New Breakfast Beer:

Good morning WBAYDN #2000.

Enjoying my first day off in two weeks. Just finished watching Wrestlemania now doing some laundry and trying to get the partner situated --sipping on this that @mschrei sent me last year!


Coffee is faded surely but, still really roasty, bittersweet chocolate, and touch of sweetness from the lactose. Really nice breakfast beer.

Still have half of my twelve pack...oops. Need to throw this one in the fridge!

 

Clear golden color with white cap and good lacing.

Aroma of bready, crackery malt with spicy floral hops.

Flavor is hop forward (brewer says Kent hops along with English malt) quickly joined by a substantial malt presence. The malt is rich but drinks dry (a plus) yet hops lead all the way into the aftertaste. A pleasing combination that ends on a slightly firm but refreshing note.

Medium texture with balancing carbonation.

As a Pils this one falls in the firm category. Brewer says the hop character "will please both Pilsner and IPA fans" and this is substantially correct. They choose to call it a Pils but it's an IPL and as such acquits itself right well.

 

Still kicking myself that I didn't grab any of these when it was out. Looks mighty tasty! Cheers!

 

Because I can't seem to figure out how the hell to post pictures I'll just let you all know that I am currently drinking a Vic's Secret Dry Hopped Fort Point Pale Ale from Trillium and it is just delightful.

 

I sure do love Bigfoot Ale!

 

5.9% alcohol. Introduced in 2017. Brewed in Wisconsin, by City Brewing, for Walmrt.
