Radlers are perhaps my favorite summer beers, and while the real German ones are killer, a lot of American Shandys are pig swill. Sam Adams Porch Rocker is the best American execution of the style I've found and I knock a lot of those back when the weather is warm. A 15 pack of JA House Lager is a frequent summer companion for me as well.

Do you have a moment to talk about our lord and savior, St Pilsner?

What makes a great summer beer to you? I think we too often go off preconceived notions as to what a summer beer is. I drink everything year round

As someone who spends a lot of weekends (and weeknights out of the office) at the beach and in the sun, anything lower abv and a lighter mouthfeel. You are already hot and need to stay hydrated in the summer to keep your body, mind and skin in top shape. Those higher ABV IPA's/Stronger beers can really impact and impair you pretty quick. Ask any lifeguard in Miami.

Long Trail changed their summer seasonal this year. Used to be 'Summer Ale' (Blonde Ale) now its 'Thru Hiker' which they are calling a hazy wheat beer.

You hydrate yourself with beer? Yikes - I'd run into problems if I did that.

I drink everything year round, too, except really big abv stouts and such. But a summer beer has a pretty clear definition: something you can enjoy a few of at cookouts, beach, etc. High Life is my summer beer of choice. Post Shift Pils will probably get a lot of play this summer as well, but it's really hard to beat 18 long necks for $11.

While at one time I did really like the low-abv hopppy offerings like Whirlpool and Eureka, and I still do to some extent, they don't meet the definition for me as the high amount of hops end up not feeling great after more than a couple.

I know a lot of folks that are committed to High Life as there domestic Fun Water. I can't even drink a whole one. The others I'm generally fine with (Bud, whatever), but they absolutely need to stay cold.

I like Sequench (to lazy to click to see if I spelled it right) or if I can find a Dry Hopped Berliner like Jetty from Castle Island during the summer, though a great Pils is always welcome.

Might to sound a little crazy, but I enjoy a coconut porter or stout in the hot summer monthes. My go to’s are pale ales, pilsners, and kolsh’s though. I second goody two shoes.

Since no one has mentioned it, but the granddaddy kolsch; Reissdorf. And don't get me wrong, I love me some Goody Two Shoes too, it's the best domestic interpretation I've had imho.

I'm not au courant with what's available now, but two beers I think of are Allagash White and Harpoon Summer Beer.
