It's a coloring book. For adults. To make us feel good about ourselves, no matter what the skill level.

Excellent APA. Aromas and flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, mango, papaya, lemon/orange zest, and light pepper/pine hops; with some wheat, cracker, white bready malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hops earthiness. Moderate pine, herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and light-medium bodied; sticky hops with light grainy wheat and resins in the mouthfeel. Moderately crisp and increasingly drying after the finish; no hop astringency. Very bright and dank on hop qualities; and overall quite refreshing. Zero complaints. Need to get this more often. Same with the new Sumpin Easy. Wish they weren't exclusively in 12 packs, but I'll keep grabbing the singles as I see them.

Awesome Black DIPA. Flavors of huge grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, and pine hops; with balanced dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark bread, and light smoke/charcoal malts; with floral/grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine/rind and roast/charred bitter finish. Full-ish bodied creamy/slick/silky and fairly sticky/chalky/resinous balanced mouthfeel. Increasing resin/rind/char dryness, minimal acrid roast or hop astringency. Dangerously smooth sipper, pleasantly warming 10.6%. Still holding up amazingly after well over a year. Hope this hits the end of year schedule. One of my favorite Short's beers. Wish Black IPAs didn't fall out of popularity.

It is not, actually. The body's just right, medium, with a round feel and thin crisp fizz. The cinnamon is far more potent than I thought it'd be...on the nose especially it's closer to Red Hots, but the taste is more sugar-cinnamon and better than the nose advertises. But it's not too sticky sweet somehow, and there's a substantial bourbon presence that's more warming than sweetening, helping to contrast. All the vanilla is simulating that melty frosting, and somehow there's a sort of doughy malt flavor like...what?

Not to beat a dead horse but I can actually go to Trillium several times a week. Im like 30 minutes away. I dont have the bread or the will. I go like once every 45 days and then I get thoroughly sick of their brews. So Im no fanboy. I really dig a classic double or triple IPA more. A nice filtered beer with lots of balance. I like both. But I get sick of Trillum very quickly. I do like that permutation # 32 right now though.

As in the previous DFH offering, I pulled this out of the cellar this afternoon and put it in the fridge before going in to work.
Bottled 04/20/10 and better than any KBS or BCBS of the same vintage by far. Mouthfeel is superb with amazing malty chocolate notes on the nose but especially in the flavor. Wow! This also, was my oldest (and last!) cellared Palo Santo. Cheers!
