If you mean edgelord in the sense of using absurdity in an insincerely self deprecating way as a means of expressing generally some negative feelings about specific actions and attitudes of others, than I agree.

Unless you live in a country where the offer of a tip causes amusement.
I expect and get prompt attention, clean glassware,a sample on request and full measure (with a top up if the amount of head means a short measure of liquid) all for the price displayed on the wall.Unless I am offered a CAMRA. discount of course.

Yeah, I went to germany with a coworker. He tipped a cute girl what would be a very generous tip over here. It was kinda funny, her reaction was a little bit of surprise. He learned soon from other germans we went out with not to tip so much. Was a totally new practice for me too.

    Tipping culture is bollocks.

Agreed. Employers should pay wait staff a living wage here, make giving good service a normal expectation of all service employees, and make tipping unnecessary and a true reward for service that rises far above expectations.

I agree, but if rectified in one shot it would cause a lot of folks to lose their jobs and/or the prices would increase - depending how each establishment deals with their increased labor costs. On the other hand, it could increase gradually over a few years. Suppose you do 1/3 of the increase each year over three years, and suggest the tip standard go to 10%, then 5%, then 0%. Hopefully if spread over three years then restaurants can ease prices up or gradually decrease staff. Then, as you say, tips are for over-and-above service.

Doing this could reduce sexual harassment and general mistreatment of wait staff. I expect that some folks consciously or subconsciously (or unconsciously) mistreat wait staff because they as patrons are expected to reward them, causing some asshats to see wait staff as inferiors that are beholding to you, their superior. Kind of like giving treats to a pet - they expect/crave it and will put up with the humiliation of doing tricks to earn the treat. Staff must feel empowered to call patrons on asshattery without risking their income.

Ten years ago I never thought I would see a locally made beer of high quality for sale in the most visible part of the fridge section of my local Hannaford Supermarket. In fact I likely would have bet my house against it. Not saying it is equivalent to broad change in culture such as would be involved in doing away with tipping as a "thing", but some large cultural changes once thought impossible have come to be very quickly.

breweries adjusting descriptions of old beers that predate a current fad, to retroactively fit the fad. Case in point, Sixpoint rebranding Global Warmer as a "Cloudy Red". @Sixpoint

The price you pay is the listed price plus any tip.If bar staff were paid reasonable wages ( not high, they are not brain surgeons after all) then the price increase of a few cents a beer should be all that is necessary. It should become cheaper to drink out.

you are correct in respect towards paying employees a living wage and retirement benefits,my wife is an Italian citizen knowing that in her home town you normally just round the bill up.cheers

Juicy, fruity, crushable, sessionable, all terms I really loathe. I especially dislike the term crushable, sounds really juvenile to me.

Users who rate beers with Habanero peppers low because they're "too spicy".

The overuse of "Cheers!" bothers me. Not in real life, meaning you actually have people around you and socializing, but on forums, social media and whatever else.

Crush/pound should be left to horrific beers in college. "Gonna crush some natties tonight braj whooooo!" I agree 1000%, crush/pound should be left to beers you consume out of a funnel.
