There was some discussion about this in another thread, so I thought I’d start a new one. We can use this to discuss anything we know about this year’s craft beer week, and some of the events.

They changed the name from Chicago to Illinois this year, and shortened it up a bit. I thought about doing Beer Under Glass, but with it being the night before DLD, there is no way I’d do it. I think that change is a bit peculiar to have BUG on a Friday before DLD.

I attended a few different smaller events the past couple years that were good and I’m looking forward to seeing what is on the schedule when they add events next week.

I think the problem is that DLD changed their weekend. BUG was always during CCBW but I think it was on THursday last year...

DLD’s new date has been known for awhile, though. And, this is the first year that BUG is on a Friday.

    Godspeed.

I got an e-mail the other day about this year's Ultra Fresh event, which I attended last year and enjoyed (except for the lack of bathrooms). And of course they are having it on the same day as Dark Lord Day, May 19th. I guess I'm not going to that!

Was just looking over the events and a little disappointed that not much south. Leaving in southwest suburbs I realize I'm not gonna be overwhelmed but besides Imperial oak and Pollyanna that's about it. Would like to go in to the city to attend but kids and kids sports make it somewhat difficult. Anyone live near ? Thought there was more in years past. What are your thoughts? Cheers

I'll be at the Forbidden Root/Corridor Release + Tap Takeover at Corridor on Tuesday. I have a half-day Friday so I'll try to snag SqueezeIt cans being released. If there is any MoRe/Corridor peach IPA left from the event on Thursday I'll stop for a drink as well.

That's good enough participation in my book.

Looking forward to some barrel aged beers at Imperial Oak, Alter's backyard fest, and a Pollyanna dinner.
I'm leaving town early Thursday morning, so the rest of the week is a wash.

I heard MoRe is doing a quaint little under-the-radar release of some BA stouts this weekend. Should be low-key, show up whenever is convenient. Family friendly as well.

I feel like there were more events/tappings at bars last year as part of Craft Beer Week - last time I checked, there weren't may of those to show this week. Maybe some of them are still doing them on their own and not putting them in the official events for ICBW.

Craft beer week used to have a few good events where someone would tap BCBS variants and then some heralded brewery outside of distro would put some whales on at a local bar, but now we have BCBS tappings multiple times per week, the old whales sit on the shelves at liquor stores, and there are so many craft brewers doing things with local brews that this week really has lost all its luster to me. Is there anything different about this week than any other week in Chicago's craft beer world?

I'll be at BUG today, was at Open Outcry yesterday for their BA Dark Roast but also feel there's a lack of events in the burbs. I feel there were more last year in the southwest burbs.

I assume 'here' is BUG. Have a great time.

I am enjoying 2016 Bell Witch at Miskatonic and looking forward to tomorrow's Grendel tapping.

Backyard Brewfest looks like the place to be for the west suburban breweries tomorrow. It is also a great cause.

It doesn't look like much of a deal: $30 and includes commemorative glass and two half-pint pours.
    Additional beers will be $3

Feel free to donate to Little Friends and skip the fest. It's not about a 'deal' on beer. It's about being a contributing member of a caring, thinking community and enjoying a beer along the way.
    If you'd like @randjuke , I'll pay for you.
