What beer are you drinking now? #2002

Last of the NA beers I had for now. This was pretty good. Great head retention/lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, light honey malts; with herbal, grassy, peppery noble hops. Bit of cardboard notes from the NA process, but not overwhelming. Light-moderate herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body and fairly crisp; balanced bready/grainy malts and sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing bitter dryness. A bit rough, but easy drinking. Clean lager flavors. Very flavorful. Tastes very similar to the other NA lager beers I've had before. I've gotten used to the flavor, so if you can get past the mild cardboard thing they all have, they are enjoyable. 3.53


Good saison. Fantastic lasting head retention/lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of lemon, pear, red apple, peppercorn, and clove; with moderate wheat, spicy rye, biscuit malts; herbal, floral, grassy hops; and yeast earthiness. Moderate peppery yeast/rye spiciness and herbal/grassy hop bitterness on the finish. Medium-high carbonation, light-medium body, and moderately crisp finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malts and sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing bitter/spicy dryness. A bit rough, but easy drinking. 4.3%. Pretty refreshing. Flavorful for the ABV. Not very complex on the saison yeast; but well balanced between yeast, hops, and wheat/rye malts. 3.56


Thanks @The-Adjunct-Hippie. This was delicious. Great head retention/spotty lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted oak, whiskey, and dark bread; with lighter notes of vanilla, smoke, char, dark fruit, and pepper. Light-moderate roast/char/herbal bitterness and whiskey/oak spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; creamy/silky/bready malt mouthfeel; some sticky hops, chalky roast, and oak tannins. Lightly increasing bitter/tannic dryness. Very drinkable. 6.2%. Not a ton of whiskey presence, but I already expected that. Really well done for a sort of imperial dry stout style. Rich malts, balanced hops, and solid whiskey/oak presence. 3.9

Twin Elephant Gathering Clouds - IPA



Taste is peach, pineapple, lemon rind, green hoppiness, and biscuity malt. Minor lingering bitterness on the backend that balances things out. The mouthfeel is medium+. Smoothie-like and soft. Overall, an unapologetically new school IPA. Murky and fruity but complex and well-executed. Me likey.

 

This is referenced on the can as a NE-style IPA, it’s good, and it’s a little juicy, but it’s not reminiscent of a NE-style IPA, IMHO.
