I generally like to drink coffee beers fresh, but I saw this on a cellar sale recently and had to nab one. I'm wondering how the coffee presence is holding up. Has anyone opened one recently? I'm thinking I should drink it sooner than later; thoughts?

I would drink it sooner than later. I had it about a month ago and while I loved it, the coffee was way faded. Its hard for me to imagine that it's getting any better than it is right now.

I drank one recently that I'd been storing in the fridge. Coffee was still the dominant note, balanced pretty evenly by the bourbon sweetness. I thought it tasted a lot like Kahlua.

But as others have said, probably not a beer you want to age.

just noticed this: bottled on 01/11/12 - so it only has about 9 and a half months on it...

I'm guessing you were at Zipps (as was I, short guy with beard, probably third person there) I have nothing to add, just curious as to how it it's drinking. Report back when you decide to open it.

I opened one on Saturday. The coffee was pretty faded at this point, but overall the beer was delicious. Light espresso sweetness and the barrel was really shining nicely. It had some lost some of its qualities as well.

I was at Zipps, yes; I was the guy asking questions incessantly of their beer guy (Patrick?) I will report back when I open it.

Coffee holds up better than everyone says it does. I should know, it's the only beer I hoard.

They had two bottles at their cellar sale, and they were the first two bottles to go.

I had an 11' a few weeks ago by the fire pit on the first chilly evening here in Chicago and i agree the coffee has a faded a little but still good... I have a couple of 10's left and plan on opening one soon to see how that one is holding up.

I drank one at DD and thought it was fantastic. I wouldn't be worried at all about it. Wouldnt plan on sitting on it for years, but it was damn good.

I drank another one last night in celebration. It was as good as ever. Silky smooth and barely any alcohol at all.

What were you celebrating? Unless this question opens up a political can of worms...

Many things after a long day at work, picking up a copy of Halo 4, and looking forward to my vacation this weekend to Charlotte that includes a big tasting and Broncos at Panthers. Yes we CAM!
