I love it. It has a moderate amount of roast and finishes with some dark chocolate bitterness. In between there is a hint of meatyness. It is not unpleasantly boozy, but you can tell it’s a high ABV beer. The alcohol comes through as vanilla extract. It’s sweeter than your typical RIS, I guess due to the additions of ice cream and spices.

All in all I’d say it’s a fun twist on the style while still being a beer. Cheers.

Hammering down a peanut butter stout before bed. Lost track of time. Got important drinking to do tomorrow. Gonna try to visit kuhnhenn or dragonmead

 

Onto a creamy and delicious Dotted Calf.




Getting started a little later tonight, was hammering out a mash for an Orange Creamsickle ale. I didn't follow any particular recipe (who am I kidding, I never do), and basically set out to make an easy drinking ale - whether it falls into cream ale, blonde ale, APA, I have no idea. All I know is it's gonna bring the orange and vanilla like a wave. I used pilsner malts for a muffin-like quality with quite a bit of flaked wheat for head retention and extra body. Hopped with some potent Admiral 15.5% AA for a good half hour, and lactose, orange, and vanilla extract added at the end of the boil. I'll be slipping some vanilla beans in secondary and probably adding more lactose as well as dry hopping with either citra or ahtanum (probably ahtanum as I like it a little better). Guess we shall see.

Waiting on my breakfast stout to ferment right now as well...it's tasting smokey and maple-y. Pretty happy so far.

 

Had a late dinner. Had this by Second Chance Beer Co., “Hazed For Daze.”



Washed it down with this 28 day Wet-Aged Ribeye. Cooked to medium with Thyme, fresh garlic cloves and butter basted.
