69 degrees in Red Hook, sunny, low humidity, nice breeze. Perfect.

Thank you so so much to @Sixpoint and Eric for the hospitality, this was honestly the best release I've ever been to. Hopefully I can drag my dad along to a future release, I think he'd love to talk to both Shane and Eric.

As much as a beer geek as I am, I don't know the first thing about brewing, but for those that do, the opportunity to drink with Shane and Eric and hear them talk about brewing is amazing.

Thanks guys for the environment you have created, the great beer, the WORLD CLASS customer service and the grace you and all your employees demonstrate. Awesome day, great weather, beer and great company. Proud to be a member of this cult.

Callum, glad you enjoyed it, I hope you get the opportunity to hang out at a release with your father and Shane and Eric, I am sure they would be flattered to host the both of you.

    My thoughts:

Power Ballad was a boozy mess, though I do just prefer lower ABV in general.

The Sixpoint crew couldn't be nicer and I am about to roll up one of these free papers.

I far prefer the new hops in Hootie to the citra+amarillo combo. It was too amarillo bitter.

Excited to try the other two.

Undefined Variable is great, the strengths of Galaxy with the other hops in it make for a great beer, enjoy!

Again, potentially an outlier, but I don't really care about how it's made. Cool, you start with grain and it goes from this metal bucket to that metal bucket and eventually to a can or keg. Tell me all about temperatures, it sounds really interesting.

Yup, as they say, its all about content, not about process (even if the process drives the content).

Btw from our conversation the other night, some folks today made some astute observations about the nature of Galaxy in beers. When blended with 1 or 2 other hops, it really can shine and contribute to a nice overall profile. Yet because Galaxy is such an aggressive hop as a standalone ingredient, it can really give you that intense gingery & celery note. Some even go as far to call it diesel or gasoline qualities.

Curious to know if you sampled the Undefined Variable, as the Galaxy was blended with Enigma and Vic Secret. Australia is producing a lot of great hops varieties beyond Galaxy, so this will be a fun realm to explore.

Split the two new cans with a buddy tonight. Posse was pretty good, maybe will get better with time as the flavor develops.

On the other hand, Undefined is a straight Galaxy banger out of the gate. Best hop for good reason, this one is amazing.

Thanks to Shane, Eric and the rest of the Sixpoint crew for the fantastic release yesterday and sharing their insights. I also had fun hanging out with @jrnyc , @frozyn, @Feaor and sampling some future releases. The wild ale is a winner.

I'm really looking forward to the Jammer release. Let's hope the weather will be as good as it was for this release.

I had a really nice time hanging out with Sixpoint-- Shane Eric and Mikey-- as well as the rest of the BA attendees friday night. Its always great being the dumbest guy at the table.

As Shane alluded to, consistent with the original mindset of BA-- facilitating "in person" meetings and not just the online banter, which often hits the lowest common denominator!

In a city where many bartenders treat you in a deragatory fashion, the Sixpoint crew all treated us with nothing but tremendous warmth and we all had a nice night. Some great discussions, and I honestly do think I got a better understanding of where they are and what they are trying to do.

I left with a strong appreciation of their passion and expertise, and I firmly believe there are some great things to come from them. I think I need to also branch out my styles a bit, as @frozyn and Mikey discussed.....

Some of the bickering has also led to petty arguments and even ad hominem attacks, and its not the type of vibe we want to cultivate on the thread anymore. Honestly, we'd rather talk about the weather if that's the alternative!

There's plenty of opportunity to talk about the substantive issues without getting triggered or down in the weeds, and that's what we prefer to do and we believe many of the viewers of the thread do as well. If you have any questions about the beers, the technology, or anything else related to the upcoming releases, we're happy to answer them.

We have a tentative meetup planned for Friday May 18th, the day before the May release. It will be good to expound upon the last conversation we had an open it up to more BAs to join. Anyone is welcome, and we'll check in a few days beforehand on the May thread to arrange the details.

    @guinness77 @balto22 @NewmansOwn @canchon

For those of you who have been on BeerAdvocate since the early days...you might remember the frequency and importance of the meetups. Back in the day when craft beer was a fringe phenomenon (~1% market share) and there was no social media, it was an absolutely vital element to have meetups and events. These meetups and events were staged all of the time and BeerAdvocate was a huge conduit in making that happen. It drove the experiential and in-person awareness that helped build the entire industry.

Social media has most definitely changed our society, and has radically changed the beer industry, not to mention music, politics, and just about every other realm. While it is an amazing connectivity tool, it has not always brought out the best behaviors in us, or even encouraged the best behaviors in the beer industry.

Whether it was web 1.0 or web 2.0 or even web 3.0, these tools are not designed to replace human interaction, they are designed to facilitate human interaction. Its a connectivity tool, providing us all access and a greater network. But it still boils down to relationships, which cannot be replaced by a computer.
