If labor was the only thing of value that went into a product that would be correct.

Labor is not the only thing of value that goes into making any single product that I’m aware of.

I have to agree with @croush , that should have gone in the DL thread. I’ll now accept my 2 vintage bottles in shame.

That is true. I guess it was too black and white. I'll argue all day about the portion that should go to labor being undervalued, though.

Profit is revenue - cost. Should cost equal revenue? Cost of labor is determined by how many people can perform that type of labor. For example,
It's more than what was stated above.

How is the cost of labor determined? It's supply and demand. Consider that the supply of people willing and able to work in factors (low skill level) is high, while the number of people willing and able to work as professors in a Business school is much smaller. Not only that, but the alternative to working as a professor in business school is to work in something business/finance related that may (likely would) pay higher (with a PhD). Thus, the number of qualified individuals for the latter is not only smaller, but to convince people to not take jobs that they could make (potentially) more in, they have to pay a competitive salary.

What's the competitive salary for someone in a factory? Another factory position, likely. Their alternatives to working in that factory job with that salary is not necessarily something that would inherently pay more. Thus, you don't need to pay them more to convince them to work in the factory. (Frequently factory work would pay better than alternatives.)

Just because there is profit doesn't mean that labor costs should be higher.

I think step 2 is hype. The supermule buys up all the beer, creating hype. Then everyone will drive hundreds of miles to pick up a couple lousy bottles of sugar water at jacked up prices. Or they'll have bottles in meijer next christmas haha.

    Maybe this thread
You solved it! The missing link in any scheme is hype! Mind blown

I mean, I understand supply and demand. This becomes more of a joint economics and societal question that is probably best left off this thread/board.

:rolling_eyes:I know some people that could easily add a few pages for ya, but you don't wanna go down that road there.

So I'll dare to ask, anyone tried it? How is No Rules this year?

I don't know. Apparently some asshole/folk hero with mismatched shoes bought it all up.

I love how passionate people are about the situation, considering 90% of the people in this thread didn’t care about the beer enough to attend No Rules Day, and many don’t even hold the beer in any sort of esteem.

I personally don’t find the beer to be all that good, so as far as I’m concerned, I really don’t care what happens at Perrin, especially considering most people that wanted or made the effort to buy the beer, whether it be from the Brewery or alcoholic Sweet Tooth, were able to obtain it.

Yeah there is definitely this element present in our economic environment these days. People with the means and know how get to take advantage of those without and funnel wealth upward. That’s why we have such a glaring wealth gap right now.

There’s a lot of room for regulating and constraining the kind of predatory practices that exacerbate that kind of wealth gap without delving into full-on socialism or communism.

    But I digress...

It was indeed a serious inquiry. Totally cereal.

And yet, not an opinion to be found on the quality of this year's vintage. Just pages of bullshit.

It has roasty notes of rarity with the scent of hype. A real treat for the 100 people who went to the brewery.
