This one is Russian Imperial Stout. Cacao nibs are coming later.

Personally, I think this is genius by SA.

What will these bottles go for at each restaurant/bar? Ill be shocked if its less than $4-$5 most places. That makes you wonder how much SA will sell these 24,000 bottles to businesses. It cant be that much lower than what the bars are selling it for. That being said:

People (not just people on here, im also talking about your average-joes that love SA but might still drink BMC or whatever) will gladly pay $5 or so a bottle without complaining about it. Specially since its a "limited release." But I bet if SA sold it to most retailers like Specs and priced it at $24-$30 a sixer ($5 a bottle X 6 bottles), people would be effing furious and they would alienate a lot of their fans.

It'll be interesting to see the pricing on these when they come out. I bet they range from $3.50 at some places to closer to $8 a bottle at other places.

Oh, and also, I dont know how I feel about SA not releasing this in singles to retailers only.

    24,000 bottles = 2,000 cases

Keep it as a "Texas only" release, and distribute 95% of it to DFW, Houston, SA, and Austin and most big retailers would get a lot more than "just one case" like SA has said previously.

Not saying that an on premise release stinks, but I just think they could have EASILY done a mostly-retail release and come out fine. This amount brewed is double what we see from most JK sour releases, Krunkin Pumpkin/Bodacious, etc.

I like that people wont be able to hoard it though

With it being an RIS, I'd like to be able to sit on it for a while. I figure some of the more "sophisticated" bars will have the same thought. I look forward to reading future threads about this...

I would love to take one home after I finish sipping on one. i wonder how well this badboy would age. Oh well, I'm going to have to sweet talk a bartender somewhere.

Bars that don't sell liquor can sell it to go, if they wish.

If I was a restaurant getting some bottles, I would already be planning a 4 course SA dinner menu with Bishop's being the highlight for the main course.

You must have missed my slick dimensional analysis above; also, 24 bottles in a case.

I'm so fucking done with SA and their Mickey Mouse beer chase. As stated this shows total disregard for their customers.

Really? You really feel that way? How about Saint Arnold just continues to release their brown ale, sailing santa, and spring bock? Forget about anything special or barrel aged or limited release. Just stick to the basics and the fan base will be happy. I would totally agree with that point... if this was 1989 and everyone was doing mostly pale lager stuff. Come on man! This site we're currently on is called "Beer Advocate" and you are clearly not advocating for the release of beer. Ridiculous!

I understand and agree with you that it sucks to try and chase beer releases around town. But isn't that a good problem to have? Wouldn't you rather have a quarterly mad dash for specially made, limited release beer than to not even try to have it on the market? With your line of reasoning, Hill Farmstead should just stop. Goose Island should stop with that silly King Henry thing. Freetail ought to stop making La Muerta. They all probably 'disregard their customers.'

In fact, Saint Arnold shows complete REGARD for their customers. Why else are they making such yummy beer that everyone wants? All us beer nerds want special beers to savor and enjoy, barrel aged brews and one offs. I can assure you that the brewers are not getting rich by these releases, and they are not doing this to taunt the fan base. Hopefully their production grows in the future so everyone can have as much beer as they want, but this is not a fairy tale.

Dont whine about Texas not having quality beer, then whine when it comes out.
