2-3 years old, found in the crawlspace. Not much carbonation left but the flavor and aroma were fine. Scored it a 4.24.

 

Samuel Adams Keller Bier...easily my favorite S.A. beer in a while.

 

$19.99 for the 4-pack. Tickers gotta tick, but $12/can is objectively not worth it.

Got a couple from them recently. At least one will probably make NBS tomorrow. Then I'll see if you're just talkin' crazy or not



Just got off the phone with my friend after reading an article he told me about months ago in the Washington Post Magazine about blind hockey. He was mentioned in the article, and after I told him I had finally read it he called to tell me he had actually been picked for the national team (which he was not expected, as he's old like me). Like I needed an excuse to have a beer, but I'll use that news as one. Last can of Break My Balls from Ocelot.

 

European Vacation Sex stout from Only Child Brewing with a roasted marshmallow. Good stuff, can’t wait for the barrel aged version.

 

Finished watching Barbara Bush's funeral service (kind of a big deal here in Houston). I got the pleasure of meeting her twice. Once at an Astros game with George Senior, and another time at a local hole in the wall in Houston called Acadian Bakery (great burgers for a bakery). It was just her, and she came around to talk to everyone. I always have a book with me, and she was very interested that I was reading of coarse. It was something from Cormac McCarthy, I think it was The Crossing. She immediately recognized the name, and said "oh thats to violent".

So cheers to her, drinking a Deshutes Black Butte Porter.

 

Yeah no way I’m paying almost the 4-pack price for a single can. I think the bottle shops on Passyunk sometimes play a game called “How high can we price this without people burning down our store?”

 

Beer #2. Too sweet for my liking, but not bad for a $3 deck beer on a warm day.
