I have a neighbor that drinks Bud Light. When he comes over, I give him whatever I don't want. He'll drink anything...even expired IPAs

Depends on the value of the beer and how much I enjoy it. If it is something I have too much of or don't particularly enjoy, I'll past it off to friends when I visit them. Then it's their problem. We do enough beer trading among ourselves anyway that it all events out.

Unwanted beer is like unwanted sex. They are both like unicorns and pegasususususes in my mythology. They do not exist. Again, just for me for the humorless and/or scarred. I'm funny, not insensitive. If unwanted beer has been forced upon you, seek counseling. And everything is consumable at the end of a session. I call them buzz enhancers.

OP sounds like the type of person who only drinks NEIPAs due to the list flavors he won't drink. Man up ********* and drink it.

Here is an idea-incorporate them into a game. Not sure if you play poker, but I have done the following in a game called death star: In the game the last card flipped is a death star-anyone holding the same number can't win the game. With the funky beer option-any one holding a death star card has the option of drinking a mystery beer (the odder the better in my opinion) instead of the automatic loss.

Thanks for the great ideas. These aren't all necessarily bad beers,though...yes the tea-beer was declared so, by my wife Amy. They are in fact, just unwanted beers. The silver can is a Finback IPA with real citrus fruit in it. It's probably an excellent take on an IPA with real citrus fruit in it, but I just don't have any interest in drinking an IPA with fruit in it. Or with the fruit added to the boil before it ferments. I am not a brewer so I don't know what I am talking about, but someone explained it to me. But I've tried them before and just didn't like it from a fundamental level. So I don't think any one brewery could make one that I would want to drink again, or even finish the can.

UPDATE** This afternoon, we held a memorial get together for my mother-in-law who passed away last month; we held it at the civic theatre where she acted & directed, and served as president. We had finger food, wine. soda, cider, coffee and beer. Guess who was in charge of the beer ? I bought some Molson, Amstel Light, and a Switchback Ale variety 12-pack for the thing.. and threw in some honey beers and couple of coriander beers from my island of misfit beer. Looks like someone drank a coriander UFO. I left the others behind in the theatre refrigerator ! Maybe the theatre crew will knock them back some night.

Wow. Impressive group of mostly resourceful old/stale/unwanted beer recyclers here. No wonder craft beer has a problem....

I drink them when I'm in a bad mood. That way I can take my day out on the unwanted beer. BA version of kicking the dog. (Can't kick the dogs because I like them to much).

Only problem is sometimes the beer is not as bad as I expected, and it ends up putting me in a good mood.

Unwanted beer is an extremely rare thing for me, but on those occasions, my son and his friends are more than happy to take it off my hands.

Nice you got a solution, OP! As far as I know, the ginger beer was your greatest problem. I'm glad I only bought a couple once.

In before the "ginger beer being a beer or not" discussion.

If I have room in the fridge I just leave it there for who knows when. It's the whole "one man's trash is another man's treasure" deal. I have a bottle of Bud Light Lime in my fridge left by my father in law 2 years ago that, while I'm not going to drink it, I'm confident someone will, Right? RIGHT?

If there are beers I know I won't drink, I toss them in the recycling bin

I used to hose my kids down with the garden hose in summer, never thought to dip them in unwanted beer. Most times they were moist enough.
