My second new beer of the night is also from @CanConPhilly. Think I may finally be through the two awesome boxes that were sent.

Poured from a 22 ounce bomber. Pours a cloudy light orange, almost mango color. The smell is very tart. The lemongrass is also noticeable. The taste is very similar. I'm having a tough time tasting the chili, but am getting the mango and sea salt. Nice light beer that is tart, but still pretty easy to drink.

This is my 2nd stout from this brewery (I have to drive out of town to get their beers), and they're blowing me away so far. I don't know how they make such high ABV stouts that are so smooth. This one is not as good as Imperial Biscotti Break, but it's right up there with it.

    I'd give it a 4.6/5

Good evening all and happy NBS! Getting a late start as usual, but I do have 2 new ones for the night. The first went down so quickly that I didn’t finish entering the review before it was done and I’m already on to the second. So, tonight’s post will be a two-for-one.

I picked up the first one in SN’s new Party Pack which also contains Pale Ale (always happy to get this one fresh in the variety pack), Sidecar IPA, Kolsch (!!!), and tonight’s first new one, Sierraveza-

My second new one is from localish brewery St. Boniface. I haven’t had a beer from them I didn’t like, and tonight’s Imperial Stout, Hegemony, is no exception-

I hope everyone had a nice Sunday. Cheers!

Second and last one for today.

This one was courtesy of @jhavs in a ninja box from the BIF.
Pours brown with a thin tan head.
    Smell is strawberry and chocolate.
Taste is chocolaty roasted malts, strawberry. Definitely strawberry on the backend, real strawberry taste not an artificial one.
A little thin but I typically expect that from a low ABV stout.
Overall a tasty beer that wasn't nearly as sweet as I had expected.

    Well Hello Late Night NBS.
Maria @utopiajane follow the advice on page 1.... Clean the hell outta that wound.
As for me, a llittle earlier I had one of the best peanut butter milk stout experiences EVAHHH!
Thanks to John, @Buck89 ... This was from our lovely, lovely chaos known as NBS BIF #7
Nashville's very own TailGate Beer did an imperial version of their popular Peanut Butter Milk Stout.

    Imperial Peanut Butter Milk Stout
    4.26/5 rDev +3.4%
    look: 4.25 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 4.25

Beautiful, fluffy tan head rises from a deep roiled brown. Elevates nearly 3 fingers high. Good lacing displayed upon settling.
Nose is straight up peanut butter. I breathe it in. Some chocolate notes, and a gentle toasted note comes through as well. There's a creaminess to the peanut butter.
Taste is much of the same. Can't quite live up to the smell, but I don't know how it could without no longer being an actual beer. There's a taming of the sweetness by the hops that almost dries out the edge of the sweet.
Mouthfeel is creamy but a tad lighter than I'd think. Still a very nice feel. No hint of the ABV.
Overall, I think this may be the best peanut butter milk stout I've had.

Good evening LNBSers and happy New Breaking point Sunday. Since it's late, I'm gonna bore you all with quite the abundance of information. For me, I've reached the physical, mental, and emotional breaking point today. The physical aspects had extreme highs and lows built in...literally. We got chickens. Yay. Ol' dad here built a coop with left over supplies in the attic including an original screen and door from our 75 year old home, and some new stuff too:

Unfortunately, it wasn't completed in time as my 12 year old and blind Boston Terrier managed to kill my daughter's favorite of the three. One of the worst feelings a father can have is having your kids soul crushed. Rest in peace, Caspert...(the littlest one at the top)

On the high side, no hike this weekend, but I got to go boarding for the first time in a couple of years, and even got to complete the longest run in the Pacific Northwest (3,690 vertical feet!), as the Palmer lift was open to the top of Mt. Hood! Insane views from up there.

And finally on to the beer. Went to a local favorite establishment here in PDX where I picked up some Sixpoint goodies. Even got to talk to Shane himself which was great. This beer specifically seems right up my alley.

    Sixpoint
    Righteous Ale
    - Rye Beer aged in Rye Whiskey and Bourbon Barrels

I can tell you one thing, this beer pours better than I'd hoped. Right on the edge of burnt orange and ruby red. Pristine looking. Mesmerising even, as I don't want to stop staring at it. The khaki head above rests proudly before it recedes, then leaves it marks on the sides of the glass from head to toe.

The pleasantries continue as burnt caramel, spicy german ryebrot, marshmallow, dark raisin, and bourbon mingle in harmony. Each aroma is distinctive, and each are equally mouth watering.

Unfortunately they don't completely carry over. I love the spicy rye bread coming through. The booze is sweet and balancing, and the introduction of wooden barrels adds a nice element. Touches of caramel and an occasional root beer essensce add subtle pleasantries as well.

This hits the mouth with a relatively thin body with a mild tingle of carbonation. The rye really seems to come through in a spicy burst and in a lingering fashion, coexisting with a smooth alcohol warmth and a barrel derived dryness. It's actually quite easy to drink, which is a bit scary.

I love this. I could love it more, and perhaps will if I can manage to save a few for a while. It has wonderful comforting and familiar elements, but collectively is very unique. Damn, I needed this...

After my official review, I gave Righteous Ale a rating of 4.16 with an rDev of +1.0%.

Cheers everyone, and I will see you all soon.

First time I've had a new beer on the appropriate day for New Beer Sunday in a while. Technically it's still Sunday, since it's DST right now -- which means it isn't actually 12:46 am on Monday, it's 11:46 pm on Sunday and our clocks are all pretending it's an hour later because the government says so (except in Arizona.)

    Anyway... the beer!

Excuse the grody stovetop and cutting board... they don't get cleaned often enough. XD

Recently had a visit from my dad and sister, and my sister happened to bring a couple bottles of beer along with her as a present for me and my girlfriend. My girlfriend tends to go more for wine or mixed drinks (and when she does have beer it's usually PBR, we still have a few from the last 24-pack hanging around in the fridge) so I'll most likely ending up drinking them both.

It's a dark golden-ish color, darker than I was expecting actually -- most of the blonde ales/golden ales I remember having were paler, aside from some of the Belgian versions which reached into the deeper gold color range like this one. Not a lot of foam on top, and most of what was there has vanished by the time I'm typing this. Smell is mild, but nice -- bready and a bit sweet. Taking the first sip, the taste is notably hoppier than the smell. A bit of a citrusy thing stands out the most, fading into breadiness afterward. Very light feel to it, a bit fizzy but definitely "gulpable." There's a bit of bitterness on the end, but nowhere near IPA-like levels or anything, just enough to be noticeable.

Overall, a pretty simple little beer, but pretty good -- a nice balance of malt and hop flavors going on in there. This bottle is from around 3 months ago, so I suspect this is a beer that leans a bit more in the hoppy direction when it's super fresh.

I must've passed this beer a dozen times before finally picking one up. Could it really live up to the tall bar of New England-style IPAs (of which I'm a huge fan and connoisseur)?

The nose is pretty close to NE quality, and as always the Sierra Nevada head destroys the glass completely. Love it. The flavor leaves a bit of emptiness behind, not really reaching a climax, but rather trails of veiny orange pith, tangerine, grapefruit peel, and lingering hop herbal bitterness. Crisp and clean feel, with faint lingering resins. My overall verdict? A perfect introduction to the style -- if you like this, you'll love the true New England IPA's. And for those of you like me that live in central US, it works to tide you over until you get your hands on more true East Coast goodness again. I gave this a generous 4.04 out of 5 due to its mass production and the fact that I got a pretty good can in my hands.

Had a good weekend, starting to go see one of my oldest friend's band play a gig on Friday night, hit up 2 record stores, a museum and 2 breweries on Saturday, and stuck around the house today and finally got outside for about 3 hours to do some much needed yard work to start getting my garden prepped for planting, as mother nature finally fucking realized it has been spring for a month now and we finally had some non cold ass weather here in Cleveland today. It was sunny all day and 60 degrees. Ending my night and weekend with a Siamese Goat Doppelback from Frankenmuth Brewery. It is an okay beer, and my new beer for this Sunday.
