I don't remember what the tap list was like (it had been a long day of drinking, and I think I got Corona), but I would go to Howling Wolf.

Split the nachos with your cousin and then both of you get separate burritos. You won't be disappointed, best nachos/burritos I've ever had.

    Disclaimer: The burritos are massive.

Just wanted to chime in about how fantastic Notch is. Wife and I visited for the first time during Starkbierfest and boy do these guys know how to celebrate beer. Such a fun time and a nice change of pace from frantically chasing whale releases. We came back on a normal day this past weekend and the warmer weather, open patio, and liter steins made for some of the best beer drinking I've had in years. Going to be making the drive up there from Boston quite a lot this summer .

When the "Great Craft Beer Fallout" happens, I believe Notch will be one of the breweries that survives.

They provide a unique experience that's very different than all the rest of the New England style IPA breweries. Not that there's anything wrong with being IPA-heavy, but the post I quoted above highlights what separates them from other breweries.

And I think we're entering an era when that might be necessary to survive.

I feel similarly about Jack's Abby. While I think Springdale does some nice IPAs and I do enjoy an IPL from time to time, whenever I visit JA all I want is a huge stein of house lager or something along those lines.

Ohhh, we need a new thread to start predictions. Notch is a great call. Allagash is in it for the long haul, too.

Or any of their kellerbier series. Notch is the same. Get a stein of a well-made german lager thats around 4.5%. Boom. That's the kind of drinking everyone should do.

I’m just arrogant enough to truly not understand why everyone doesn’t share my taste in things.

I'm just here to say that I really wish Notch were my local brewery (I'm about an hour away). That's all. It's nice out today and I work from home, so I'm outside, and I thought how nice it'd be to head down to Notch at lunch, have a beer.

Can anyone tell me what I may find at Yankee Sturbridge?

Did anybody go to the Polish fest? How was that Polish lager?

They had a Polish fest too? Between this, their Oktoberfest, and their Starkbierfest you guys are killing me.

Wish I lived closer...I need to make a trip back there sooner rather than later.

Yes. Absolutely perfect day at Notch for the fest. Weather was great. Got a table outside with umbrella coverage. It was busy the entire time we were there, but never cramped. Beer line ebbed and flowed. Just needed to catch it at the right time. Lojko was delicious, but I knew what to expect since I had it previously. All the other beers we had were great as well - Hefe, Fire Walk (rauch), and Grodziskie. Notch is easily one of my favorite places to relax and have a beer(s).

I imagine you'll be able to find Session Pils, Left of the Dial IPA, Infinite Jest Hoppy Pale Ale, and Zwickel Beer.

    Visited the brewery Saturday afternoon:

Damn, I love it there. From the atmosphere to the beers.

All the beers were fantastic, with my favorite probably being "The Standard". A Czech Pils coming in at 4.4%. My God this beer was delicious, one of the best Pilsner's I've ever had. The malt profile was so invitingly sweet (Pils malt sweet, not cloying, so a good thing). And the head almost looked creamy, leading to a softer mouthfeel that made it quite drinkable.

I sort of remember a nice robust spicy hop finish to balance it out and invite another sip...tough to recall because I downed my half liter in short order.

Also loved the Dunkelweisse and Helles. I finished with "Landspeed Record" their New England pale ale. Also delicious, right up there with Dog and Pony Show.

The best part, everything was 4.5% ABV or less! Refreshing.

Bonus: I love the descriptions of the beers telling you what methods were used (decoctions and how many).
