What beer are you drinking now? #2012

Funky Buddha Maple Bacon Coffee Porter, first time for me. Tastes a bit one-dimensional, lots of maple syrup. Part of that might be my nose tricking my taste buds because the aroma is just a wall of syrup. Anxious to try the barrel-aged version I have waiting down in the basement, but that's another night.

Fortunately, I'm not all outta beer...

Run Ya Pockets, Barrier's 8.5% DIPA collaboration with Interboro, dry hopped with Citra, Cascade, El Dorado and Amarillo hops... 4/9/18 canning... Presents lots of juicy fruit impressions like honeydew melon, pineapple, and peach... Mild undertones of pine give it a little bit of tack and shellac... Super-soft and smoothly carbonated, only mildly bitter, but the sweetness isn't as pronounced as some of the NEIPA-type beers - seems to almost dry a little bit on the finish with a faint woodsy note... Really diggin' it...

Fortunately were both into the macabre, so I don't mind. However she has no interest in coming to the funeral home and seeing the prep room which I find funny.

And I've got about two left, I make no promises they will make it to see tomorrow.

Ellipsis Milk District. Liked this so much on draft I grabbed a crowler to go. I’m a sucker for Citra.

 

I totally forgot about that! I think I was 3 at the time. I know my uncle used to have a t shirt that scared me.

 

Another new one here ba. Hop Humid, a triple dry-hopped dipa, from blue point. Features Loral, Vic secret, and cluster hops. Lots of white wine notes, subtle fruit tones, and rather clean. The dry hopping is really lacking which is surprising with its billing. Pretty average at best. Their hazy bastard is a much better example of the style.

Do not work too hard tomorrow my friend. Me, gonna go visit daughter and newly minted granddaughter. And yes, they live just 2 miles from Veil so my sorry ass just might stop there.

 

Delicious Barrier/Finback ipa after a great German dinner (sauerbraten, rouladen and spaetzel) and a couple of great German biers (Krombacher Kellerbier and really fresh Hofbrau Maibock). Prost!

 

Loving the Pretenders clips. Two of my all-time music heroes, Buddy Holly & Chrissie Hynde were born on Sept. 7th, just like me.

Was at a BBQ pit over the weekend who had an impressive bourbon list, this was sitting in the corner in the back of the room. I want this barrel to make a bar tablel!!!

Can poured into a chalice

Two finger off white foam cap, frothy, soapy, settles to a dense layer, good sticky lacings resides over a hazy golden amber

Fragrant on the pour, tropical fruits, orange citrus

Citrus hop taste

Good sudsing, hop nibble,

Good beer

 

2009 Boon Geuze Maraige Parfait. This one's really cool...not quite tart but dry with a nice butyric acidity, some barnyardiness and a great balancing toasty quality from the oak. With the sourness subdued, it's actually got a decent bitterness that comes through too.

 

Definitely a Weihenstephaner can’t fake that head, finally found a Braupakt in 500 ml bottles. Maybe it’s me but it has a whiff of bubblegum, a bit on the palate too. Don’t think I like this as much as the regular Hefe, but it’s ok glad I only bought 2.

 

I lied Hop Stoopid was next in line but this guy named Waldo stepped up and said try me,and he called me a wuss.
