Ok, after the two Foreign Objects I had this past week, I wanted to test my homerism. I might do another with a more direct comparison to those beers this weekend. For now, I've always claimed enjoying Ocelot over Aslin - mainly because Ocelot has been more of a clean malt profile upon which bitter hop notes have been added, versus Aslin, which is one of the highly acclaimed juicy NE IPA producers. Have little to complain about either, but a hastily thought up comparison for tonight:

Wandering Soul by Ocelot is actually a little softer and more fuller than a fair number of Ocelot offerings. It's also a little more malty/balanced, but there's a decent grassy, citrus pithy, old cut pine wood bitterness. It doesn't hit with much "juiciness" - just a splash, and the fruit aspects are mingled in the bitter notes. The oat flakes are noticeable here, also (not sure how many of their beers use this ingredient or how heavily).

Power Move I have had and wasn't overly impressed or disappointed. I took a whiff before I started this and nothing more until this typing. Even though it's not the best Aslin beer, its nose stood out to me beyond what I recall from my recent Foreign Objects and Collective Arts reviews. Homer? Maybe, let's delve in...

A much cleaner melon, tropical fruit with rind still attached nose. Taste is actually fairly clean for Aslin, maybe even slightly cleaner than the Ocelot beer - though putting them side-by-side in sips, the Ocelot is still a bit cleaner; so it must be my expectations that are driving my mind towards which seems cleaner.

The flavors in Power Move provide a facade that quickly falls apart because my tongue has taste buds beyond the tip of it. The facade falls to neither bitterness or juiciness... just sorta blandness. I might've overrated it (I'll have to check).

So, not the best "side-by-side" I've done, but the Foreign Objects and Collective Arts tasted better than this Aslin, though their aromas were at best close.

Funny, I actually did really enjoy that 60 Minute I had at dinner as a "change of pace" from this type of beer. Official winner of this thrown-together tete-a-tete is Wandering Soul, for what it's worth.

(side note: can the Sox find their offense? or did they blow it all?)

Didi continues to produce. Nice bottle opener.

Edit: as I make my way through the thread I now see you are at the game. Enjoy.

This can's pour produced a lot of chunky sediment, while the first one did not despite being from the same batch...

    Go figure...

Anyway, fantastic brew - right up my alley: a DIPA coming in at 8.5% abv featuring the mighty Mosaic hop and raw wildflower honey... Soft and smooth and fruity, with honey imparting a richly flavored sweetness to the floral, tropical, and orchard fruit impressions... bitterness is very mild, in the typical NEIPA style, although this was not a fruit smoothie sort of IPA, and it had a very subtle hint of dank resin buried under the ripe and honeyed fruit... Really dug it...

    Cheers...

That's not what @SomethingClever told me.

I never got that beer... one of those Sixpoint offerings that was too simple or something, I seem to recall thinking like a cream ale gose hybrid of sorts. Eh, we can't all like the same things.
