Made the mistake of purchasing two of these when I first saw them. Pretty pricey lesson learned that not all NE IPAs are created equal. Keeping it simple tonight and clearing out one more spot in the fridge while I break in my new work boots.

They butchered the style. Jammer 2.0 was an improvement but that was building off of an extremely weak foundation to begin with.

I disagree that they butchered the style. It’s different but pretty refreshing and easy to drink. I never had the regular iteration of Jammer though.

Okay, a Sixpoint beer I truly like beyond appreciate. I think I like their more balanced approach to "styles" that are typically balls to the wall bold:

Good thing the TV is blurry, damn foreign Blue Jays hit a home run. Anyhow, good thing the (if I understand the lyrics right) "drunk po lice" aren't around tonight:

Very nice IPA. Great head retention/thick lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, thyme, mint, coconut, mango, melon, citrus peel/rind, pepper, and pine hops; with moderate honey, lightly toasted bread malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; balanced bready/grainy malts and sticky hops/spice in the mouthfeel. Some resin/rind dryness, with no hop/spice astringency. Very drinkable, not overly aggressive, 7.5%. Was a big fan, not overdone on the thyme spice. Fits in perfectly with the fruity, dank, and earthy hop profile; nice honey and bready malt backbone, with no residual sweetness. 4 month old bottle, and tasting delicious too. Short's IPAs always hold up well! 3.9

Amazing!! Fantastic head retention/thick lasting lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, berry, citrus peel/rind, pepper, and pine hops; with balanced caramel, toffee, brown sugar, bourbon, charred oak, and brown bread sweetness; with lighter notes of coconut, vanilla, and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus rind, herbal, grassy, peppery bitterness; and light-moderate bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; balanced creamy/bready malts, sticky/resinous/rindy hops, and bourbon/oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing bitter/resin/tannic dryness. No hop/oak astringency. Lightly increasing warmth of 12.2%, with mild barrel booziness lingering after the finish. Completely exceeded all expectations. Huge juicy and dank Chinook, Mosaic and Simcoe hop complexity from reDANK; awesome malt balance and barrel integration. Not overly sweet for the ABV. Will be getting another pack or two! 4.33

I can work in time for the smoker in my life, but coals, unfortunately, are right out.

I thought there was no acidity or salinity for the beer, which are key for me in the style. I thought it also had what I described as an “herbal” flavor to it that seemed odd.

Anyway, I haven’t had it since then, and Sixpoint is know for tweaking their beers, so I’m sure it’s different than when I first had it.

Hmmm - I don't think I rated 1.0 but do recall not enjoying it that much. Then some people who shall remain nameless (but who have been quoted tonight) got me to try 2.0. I did recall liking 2.0 better - but a lot of that was based on memory.

I can't disagree with refreshing and easy to drink.

I agree it is pretty simple overall, but I get a lot of coriander and wheat without a subtle amount of salt (like German made versions) that comes across as thirst quenching

I don’t think the new version is as herbal more coriander and a touch sweet. The salinity is pretty subdued but I think it comes out nicely in a subtle way that makes it refreshing.
