I was watching 3 Billboards last night and there were a few scenes where they were drinking beer. In one they were drinking Wicked Weed's Napoleon Complex, and in another they were drinking Duck Rabbit beers. Couldn't be sure which one. Took me right out of the movie! They don't distribute in Missouri! I looked after the fact and saw that they did film the movie mostly in western NC. It was either lazy, or cute of the set designer to use those.
Yeah, thats called "product placement" and whomever pays gets in. On the other hand, I've also heard of filmmakers who didn't care and just went with what was natural/common. I totally understand Wicked Weed paying up for product placement as they sold out but Duck Rabbit is unusual. Did they sell out as well?
I noticed that as well! My wife and I watched it on a flight and I paused it to tell her they were drinking WW IPAs when realistically the characters should be drinking PBR or Bud.
You have clearly crossed the threshold into full blown Beer-nerdom. On a similar note, it would drive me crazy in the Sopranos that the dancers were topless. In NJ you can't be topless and serve alcohol. Being a man I got over when I realized I was seeing boobs .
And are we to believe that hillbillies in Missouri are sitting around drinking Wicked Weed beers? I guess with Ab-Inbev, anything is possible.
