Hint 2: Fortunae meae, multorum faber

 

Just received a real banger of a box from Hamilton! Someone took to heart my love of things from a barrel. Pics and details momentarily.

Also both of my boxes are going out today. They are heavily made up of two local breweries (mostly very limited foeder/barrel aged goodness) with a smattering of other East Coast treats (possibly a maine bottle, probably a thing from Fredericton). Hopefully both my targets dig mix fermentation saison/farmhouse because that is a looooot of what I am sending.

Target one hint: Going west but not that far... to a big province, with a great beer scene.

Target two hint: Going west to pretty near the coast but not quite... also we have probably been at the same place drinking once or twice, but I don't think we ever met.

Thus to try and aid my senders if deciding what to send me =)

This weekend will most likely be a weekend of decisions and acquisition for my targets... hopefully if time permits I'll be sending mine off.

Hints for my targets, one of you lives in city essentially exclusively english speaking, while the other complete opposite. While you're both by the water, one is by the ocean, while the other is not. One of you lives in a condo, while the other lives in a neighbourhood of houses.

 

Canada Post informs me that a box is out for delivery in the birthplace of Georges Vézina. Signature required and happy Friday!

Aside from the Merit Gose, which I enjoyed, these are all new! Very excited to take a crack at some of them tomorrow night!

Came home to a small box this morning after a graveyard shift, didn’t look shipper size but I picked it up and whoever my sender was really jam packed this thing. Super heavy! After unpacking it carefully, I’m still not sure how they fit this much in there but kudos on the beer tetris!

Very thankful for the variety of styles and breweries, I believe I have about 11 or 12 new beer ticks out of this batch so lots to try, however I must admit (regretfully) that there are a handful of the IPAs that I will likely be throwing out as they are well beyond a six month shelf life and I wouldn’t want to try a beer and judge it or a brewery based on a beer past it’s best before date.

Thank you mysterious sender, I will absolutel be making sure these don’t stay in my fridge very long!

TO MY TARGET - I have continued to compile your beers for you and will be preparing your box within short order ... have a few beers to try myself this weekend to see if they are worthy of making it into your box. I can confirm that I will be adding one single beer from a third country into your box ... hope you have a corkscrew.

 

Are you sure those are best before dates and not bottled on dates?

 

Almost every IPA nowadays prints the bottling/canning date, the only one I can think of now that actually has a best before is Stone's Enjoy By.

Glad you liked. Sorry about the Merit. For some reason I thought there was a plain Gose and a new Apricot Gose, whereas it’s always been an Apricot Gose. My bad.

box departed calgary yesterday with expected delivery of May 8...taking its sweet time...

 

Box is all packed up! a 35.5lb multi-format monster with 20+ brews showcasing the best of the Maritime Provinces. Headed to Canada Post tomorrow!

Last hint: Box looks like its going to an office, hopefully an office with a sturdy porch/entryway, as this box is a porch crusher!

 

Box is almost ready to pack up and send. I have some family things to deal with this week so will likely not be able to get to the post office until Friday.

Hint the Final: If my math adds up, I think I have sent 3 boxes of beer your way in the recent past Mr. Target.

 

I was 95% based on the clues (the one about the wall rising), but the box has arrived and I now believe to moral certainty that Electros is my generous sender. I haven't excavated the box completely yet, but the few that I have seen are familiar to me from this thread.

As for my box, I had a little trouble yesterday tracking down a few stranglers. This shall be remedied tomorrow.

My box is on its way two provinces to the west. 18 beers inside, so I was a bit worried about the packing being too crowded - but my stepfather-in-law is a Canada Post worker who inspected the box and assured me it would survive the transfer. ETA is May 3rd, according to Canada Post tracking.

Which is perfect because your weekend forecast of mostly sunny and 16 degrees is perfect beer drinking weather.
