Tree House Lights On

 

Quiet thread today. Anyways, I'm knocking this one out, I used it to complete a mix-a-six of some good deals.



Nevermind that this beer is racist ("white" on the label, come on DFH, get with the times! ) First time having it, personally not a fan. It has a nice color to it. The nose is primarily peppery, with orange peel and cigarette butts. The flavor is almost absent, but if I focus I can grab notes of lemon, gooseberry, orange zest, lavender, and white breads. Trust me it took a lot of focusing. The feel is crisp and clean. Overall I rated it a 3.32 out of 5, haven't rated anything THAT low in awhile. It's basically like a Belgian Coors Light.

At the LAX Marriott with Mrs O, flying home tomorrow, beers in Hanger 18, their on-site craft beer bar/restaurant, this is Expatriate, an excellent West Coast IPA from Three Weavers, a brewery that is new to me. If this beer is representative of their brewing prowess, I need more of them in my beer nerd life.

Danzig Baltic porter. So nice out today in N.J. I was out doing yard Work past sundown. Nice that spring finally got here and nicer to relax with a beer after being outside for hours

Very tasty brew, to date the best I've had from this brewery, nice little sweetness.

Bozzio Levin Stevens Situation Dangerous 2000 Magna Carta Records

 

This was very nice. Flat pour as expected, really old bottle. Aromas and flavors of huge sour/tart/tangy raspberries, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, orange, green apple, melon, white grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, and grass; with moderate wheat, cracker malts; light pepper, leathery/musty funk, white wine vinegar, and yeast earthiness. Moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness, fruit tang, and yeast/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Flat carbonation and light-medium body; balanced grainy malt, lactic acid, fruit tang, and oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Moderately increasing acidic/tangy/tannic dryness. Mildly increasing pucker through the glass, but not overwhelming. Very drinkable despite no carbonation. Super jammy raspberries with balanced Brett/Lacto complexity; nice malt backbone and oak presence. Would have preferred some carbonation, but this was pretty impressive. 3.87


Awesome Belgian DIPA. Great head retention/lacing for the ABV. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berry, and citrus peel/zest hops/yeast; with moderate wheat, cracker, white bready malts; lighter notes of banana, bubblegum, peppercorn, clove, pine, herbal/floral/grassy hops, and yeast earthiness. Light pine, citrus peel, herbal, grassy bitterness; and peppery yeast spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; balanced bready/grainy malt and sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing bitter/spicy dryness. No hop astringency. Very drinkable, never aggressive. Mildly increasing warmth of 8.5%. Ekuanot, Mosaic, and Simcoe hops; so I knew I'd be a fan. Awesome balance between juicy/light dank hops and fruity/spicy yeast complexity; nice solid pale/wheat malt backbone, minimal residual sweetness. Glad I got a 4 pack. I love Belgian IPAs, wish there were more available these days. Especially Americanized versions like this. 4.1

2018 Bigfoot

 

Tonight’s bike ride has been cancelled by my balky back, but the backup plan ain’t bad. I love this beer and be will buying a ton of it if reasonably fresh.

 

Other half/j..Wakefield Florida plates 2. Love this beer w/passion fruit. I know some people don't care for it but I think it's been great and has improved with age. Cheers
