Very roasty with plenty of molasses. Pecan coming thru as it warms. Good stout but not great.

Planned on going straight to bed when I got home from this long day, but storms are rolling in and I haven't gotten to watch a spring storm yet. The rain is just starting to patter against the roof of our screened-in porch as I type. The cat seems to be acting brave and is still by my side, although we haven't heard a clap of thunder just yet despite seeing the distance glow with frequent flashes.

    Epic's New England IPA.

    Cheers.

Ahh, yes. The first faint, dull roar of thunder.

Delicious English brown. Flavors of big caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, cocoa, coffee, and light nutty malts; with light herbal, grassy, peppery hops. Similar aromas, a bit fruity/yeasty but not overwhelming. Light herbal/grassy/spicy hop and roast bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; very creamy/bready/grainy malt mouthfeel; light sticky hops and chalky roast. Lightly increasing hop/roast bitter dryness; not acrid/astringent. Very drinkable, 5.9%. Nicely rich classic brown ale malt complexity with balancing earthy hops; and not too roasty. Will definitely be picking this up again. Really spot on stuff, and will always be available moving forward. I am a fan of all of their beers so far.

Awesome IPA. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, berry, citrus peel/zest, light pepper, and pine hops; with moderate honey, toasted bread, light caramel malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; balanced creamy/bready malts and sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing lingering bitter dryness, minimal hop astringency. Easy drinking, though a bit aggressive. 6.5%. Really impressive stuff as I hoped. All Centennial and Citra hops. Extremely juicy and fairly dank/earthy hop complexity; nice bready malt backbone, with minimal residual sweetness. This was a perfect replacement for Cornerstone IPA. Love the hop profile as expected.

For me, my first rounds of the year are usually my best. Then it is a steady downward spiral into self-doubt, self-loathing, overthought, and eventually full-blown insanity.

Sample from the Weyerbacher rep today.
Moderate to vigorous yields a 3/4 inch white head over a slightly hazy to nearly bright, light golden body with no lacing. Definite funk on the nose with some fruit (mostly banana) and spice (mostly clove.) Flavors of their Belgian yeast and spice (pepper) and fruit (bananas.) Good feel and overall a nice little Belgian Pale Ale right here. Cheers!
