There's a mainpage thread right now, asking what folks' favorite hot weather beer is. Thought I would localize it, and try to find some stuff I can actually get. My answer is Wits, but not many breweries around here make 'em. I like a nice Hefe too (North Fork, Anacortes, and flyers all make enjoyable versions, but none are packaged). Sure, a F41 is always welcome too, but, what do y'all look for when the rain and gray is gone?

How about a nice lager from Holy Mountain when available?

I am looking forward to the return of pFriem Summer Pale, one of my favorite hot weather beers from last year. I will also up my consumption of pilsners from pFriem and Chuckanut as often as possible.

I have been guilty of neglecting witbiers and saisons the past couple of years, and I look forward to changing that this summer. When I find some good ones I'll flag 'em here.

Hefeweizens too. I am reminded of the pleasure I found in a simple Widmer Hefe at Providence Park last year on an afternoon so hot and humid that not even I wanted an IPA. (It happens.)

If it's at home, I'll go for something canned, and Silver City's Ziggy Zoggy, a kellerbier, always hits the spot in the summer. I don't know if Buoy makes it that far up north, but their pils is great, and they actually brew a cream ale that I give a damn about, so I'll probably have those in my fridge as well. Both of those are in cans, too.

Not to hijack, but is anyone else missing the search function on the main BA page to look for specific beers, or have I just forgotten how to internet?

On wits: I'm a long-time Allagash drinker and I tend to hold that as the standard. Pfriem puts out a good substitute. Holy Mountain makes an excellent one but is the least accessible. Fort George Quick Wit is great for the packaging format but is my least favorite out of the three.

I've been craving smoked lagers the past couple of summers. Schlenkerla Helles is oddly refreshing. Heater Allen could fill the void. I bought a lot of their rauch bock over the winter.

Their new Awake Limbs pilsner is fantastic. Grabbed a growler yesterday and enjoyed it while grilling burgers on my patio.

As a general rule of thumb, if a beer contains the words "summer" or "session" in the name, I don't like it.

Warm weather means I'll be picking up some Reuben's Gose and Fremont Universale to go in the fridge. I'd love to have regular access to Holy Mountain's wit, but until they bottle/can/bag/box it, I'll be lucky to have it twice this entire summer.

Not going to lie, I also drink some radlers in the sunshine. Postdoc makes some excellent ones, like the one in my profile pic.

They rearranged it recently. Click on the magnifying glass top right, and a search box will pop up.

The pilsners at Wayfinder have been pretty great. I haven't applied Ready Player One from Level to the hot weather conditions yet, but I imagine it'll work just fine.

HM's ability to craft low alcohol, sessionable, thirst quenching treats is nothing short of remarkable. I can think of no other brewery that is crafting beers in the 4% and 5% range that are so flavorful and delicious.

If lesser ritual ever becomes available down here on a regular basis, it will quickly become part of my regular summertime rotation.

Breakside pils / Rainbows and unicorns pale ale
Hair of the Dog Lila or Ruth
    Fremont Summer Ale
And of the DeGarde Hose beers
    Aslan Batch 15 IPA

    Heater Allen Pils
    Ecliptic Mexican lager

also, many of the beers above can be mixed 50/50 with Reverend Nats Tepache (a 3.2% mexican pineapple cider) . this is a delicious combo if your pallet gets exhausted from the usual beer options.

    Lots of good ideas here!

Hopefully I'm not hijacking the thread too much by including a summer wishlist:

    1) Wayfinder starts canning
    2) Chuckanut sends down packaged product in addition to draft
    3) Holy Mountain abandons 750's for more wallet-friendly formatting
    4) The occasional De Garde drops we were seeing last summer start up again
    5) Pfriem releases a new summer-weather beer each week (Hey, they promised 100 beers this year, so it could happen)

I believe the main reason that we're not seeing de Garde up here as regularly as in prior years is because of their relocation to downtown Tillamook. If you follow 'em on FB or IG, it was only early April that they bottled the first beer at the new brewery. Prolly gonna take some time to get back to scale, esp since almost everything they brew these days spends at least 1 to 2 years in oak.

Summer beers, I'm mostly a lager guy. Had the Chuckanut Dunkel last night and thought it was phenomenal!

Of course, can't go wrong with the pFriem and Heater Allen stuff too, but Zoiglhaus has really been on my favorites list lately, especially since they're in six packs now (well, some).
