Sold Out but it's at the Tavern. It's fucking phenomenal, so glad I happened to be in the area to get 4 crowlers.

This beer was nuts. Ive never seen anything quite this color before. None of the pics I took of it did it justice. Only way I could describe it to a buddy of mine was radioactive looking, as fucked up as that sounds lol
SUPER tasty and also very dangerous. If I took a sip or two of it and you told me it was 10% Id have told you that you were crazy. Really drinkable

Shared half a crowler with a friend who isn't really a beer drinker, she downed the pint and asked me the abv and guessed 4.5% - it's quite a dangerous one. Permanent Purgatory had a little more lacto kick but this one is fantastic

New release and sold out in a little over an hour. His hops yields have been weirdly low these days. Thought he switched to Lup powder, but maybe not for all types

maybe more is going to the tavern too... may as well make sure patrons of the tavern have troon to drink and not run out... bad when there are no crowlers nor few options on tap at the tavern on top of that

Possibly, I guess IPA demand will be higher at the tavern so he has to allocate more compared to his fruit ales. That combined with a higher yield (losing a lot to hops compared to adding volume w/ fruit puree) could explain it.

Hey guys, just wondering how much crowlers of these guys' big IPA go for?

Most have been in the $12-$13 range

    IPA crowlers are typically $12/$13

Heavily adjuncted beers such as some stouts or the fruit beers are typically $14

His Barrel Aged Anniversary Stout was $20

I have it on good authority that Alex uses a reverse dry hopping technique that sometimes can lead to funky results. You never question when you meddle with the dark arts...

There is a segment of craft beer nerds that are just super fucking entitled.

A few weeks/months back people were complaining on a "closed" post that Alex wasn't providing enough time/information about them being closed on a certain day and they had waited at the brewery for 2 days and why didn't someone tell them they would be closed that day?

    Idiots.

Fortunately I missed that due to an appointment to get my neckbeard washed and braided.

The way the business is executed changed 10 months ago. Clear at the time it was going to attract these kinds of consumers and it did so in droves. Takes time to separate the wheat from the chaff.

It's a shame because Alex is one of the nicest people I've met in the industry. I understand people want their cans because the beer is fantastic, but it's easy enough to trade for. It must wear on him hearing the same thing over-and-over.

Had one guy last release in front of me who was upset they lowered the limit on him, which I sort of get, but if they hadn't done that he would be walking away with zero instead of one.

Or are people more upset they aren't getting that sweet trade bait?

when you go the way of shinny objects the raccoons come... ever see a raccoon trap? like a tin can with a bunch of downward facing nails.. the raccoon puts it's hand in when the hand is open... grabs the shinny object.. but the closed hand can't come out of the can since the nails provide resistance... the raccoon won't let go of the shinny object and gets caught in the trap... hyperbole of the can lyfe... let go of the can brahs

If anyone thinks this is bad just imagine the crazy entitlement that would accompany similarly small canning runs of 16oz cans 1 four pack pp.

'Downward Facing Nails' would be a great name for a future Troon release

That'd be a nightmare. More can bros coming to trade a pint at a time. No ability to trade to 1 crowler limit. ohno
