For Oregon I feel no beer quite cuts to the core of our character like the Black Butte Porter. It conjures dreams of a rugged landscape and dark, menacing skies, while simultaneously being approachable and affordable. Some might argue that an IPA like the Boneyard RPM or Barley Brown's Pallet Jack would be more fitting, but from the stormy skies of the Pacific, through the dark forests of the western mountains, to the snow capped cascades and the dry plains beyond, the Black Butte Porter is the quintessential Oregon beer.

Agree, Ca is far too large and diverse to just have one, that's why any comparison by state fails. Regionally I'd pick Sierra Nevada, Deschutes and Rogue just for the seniority.

For Tennessee, I have to call out Yazoo Sue. It's a Baltic Porter with cherrywood smoked malt, and it was the first-ever legal high gravity beer brewed in our state back in 2009. The reference to Johnny Cash clinched it.

    For Connecticut:

Id like to think it is Fuzzy Baby Ducks or G-Bot from NEBCO but in reality it is probably Naughty Nurse from City Steam.

For Ohio (the state that I buy all of my beer in) it is definitely Fat Head's Head Hunter. I think that's the one that someone traveling to this region of the country would seek out pretty quickly. There are better IPA's from CBC, Hoof Hearted, etc... but Head Hunter is the gold standard.

Unless it's November or December then it's Great Lakes Christmas Ale

For West Virginia (the state that I live in) honestly it would have to be Yuengling. Despite what you think about the stereotypes of WV, the northern part of the state (where I live) is very in tune with PA and Ohio and Yuengling is hugely popular here. It shares that Pittsburgh culture (unless it comes to college football). You would be hard pressed not to find any bar, restaurant, gas station, etc... that doesn't have Yuengling in the northern half of WV.

Seriously tho if you come to the rust belt area of PA/WV/Ohio and it's football season: have a Yuengling or a Head Hunter while sitting around watching the Steelers vs the Browns or Ohio State, WVU, and Penn State. You're good to go. Eat some greasy food while you're at it. You'll see why Autumn is everyone's favorite time of year around here.

I would say Carton in general.(not just Boat which I never buy) The more quintessential NJ Carton brew is 077XX in my opinion. But then again, Carton in general. Great brewery!

Good choice, but Maumee Bay Brewing makes Buckeye Beer. It's a toss-up.

    Colorado:
Argument could be made for Fat Tire, it's the most ubiquitous beer to come out of Colorado hands down.
Coors also, I mean, it is only made here and has a Colorado mountain on the can.

For Craft options: Dales Pale Ale is a possibility. It also represents our states love of hops, cans, and stoner culture (with legalized recreational MJ). We also export more beer than we import, and Dales is one of the big reasons.
Weldwerks Juicy Bits represents a trendy "transplant" style as many of the state's residents are transplants from all over.
Then there's Yeti- it's big, bold, classic, and yet it's also a source of change at Great Divide.

Big Bad Baptist is a great beer- from a transplant brewery that; like many people; came to Colorado seeking something different from where they came from.

Probably Devils Backbone Vienna Lager... hell, Bud Light, there's a brewery in Williamsburg

At another level... hell, I think I'm the only Virginian so far... Triple Crossing Falcon Smash... because Richmond, and it seems more accessible than the Veil beers

There is no doubt that when you think of Missouri beer (or beer anywhere, I suppose) you think of Bud. But if I'm looking beyond name association for something that represents the character of the state, I think I would lean towards Boulevard Tank 7.

Missouri is a big agricultural state, so a farmhouse seems appropriate, while Tank 7's sophistication might serve as something of a nod to the large urban areas on either end of I-70.

Harpoon and SA were my exact thoughts as well. Sam Adams is "bigger" and somewhat more obvious, but I'm pretty sure I've read that Harpoon actually outsells SA here, at least in Boston if not the state. And Harpoon IPA was something of a game changer in its own right, even if not to the level of some of the bigger national names on that front.

Good call on Mayflower Porter as a third since a cold ass state needs a dark beer on its flag. I might pick Ipswich Stout in its place, since it has a longer history, but that's just splitting hairs.

Indiana is primarily known for farming, basketball, and racing.

Upland Wheat Ale probably captures the essence of Indiana most of the year. Farming, unassuming, laid back.

This time of year though it's hard to pass on something like Daredevil Race Day Lager.
