    Hey all! Just checking in from the Indian ocean. Not a lot of good beer here ... none at all, actually. I made due with a couple of Miller Lites earlier today, but I've mostly been sticking to liquor and wine.

    No pics, as I've got almost no WiFi here ... and I'm ten hours in the future. Still safe, although it feels like I'm in exile.

    Can't wait until this delivery is done and I can join you all again. Cheers, BAs!

    Well I am drinking Heady Topper a Double IPA from the Alchemist up in Vermont, ABV 8.00%, IBU 75. It is the second time in my life that I have it, and it is rated the second best beer in the world according to the Beer Advocate. It's hard to compare like that, but it is magnificent. The fruity aroma, some citrus, the prominent tropical fruit and piney hoppy taste, very nice. It says to drink it from the can, but I can't taste much difference, so I am using a nice glass. I took the photo inside but I am sitting outside admiring Jupiter and drinking my Heady Topper.

    Something tells me that you have been to Bonn recently as well. I'm a bit psychic, you know :sweat_smile:. Dude, if you're going to be in Cologne for a bit longer, we should totally have a few beers at Braustelle or Craftbeer Corner.

    You are a smart man! Bonn yesterday and Cologne today. Won't be able to meet up today as I'm in town with wife and kids for only a couple more hours (then back to Bonn). I might be back in a few weeks and I'll let you know! Would be great to grab a beer!

    Good morning NA BAs and good afternoon @Shanex and our other EU-brethern. Thanks for starting today's thread.

    Well, once the sun dries up the dew, I'll spend a couple of hours shortening the yard covering - damn little grass but a lot of wild flowers (weeds). At least they grow well in the acid soil here in the oak-maple-beech climax forest of NW PA - I have a lovely crop of moss over-running the west side of the property but that's OK because it's less than three inches high and is green year-round. The only downside to moss is that it breaks loose from the soil too easily.

    Today's New Breakfast Beer is another Murrican take on a Belgian Quadrupel:



    Their theory may be adroit but their practice seems somewhat maladroit - particularly at the price point.

    One pun is worth a thousand groans and one groan is worth a thousand guffaws!

    Taste is hop city which isn't surprising at 87 IBU. Don't know if I can taste hop levels that high but if I can this is my limit. Not flavor limit, I rather like it, just as far as my palate will wander in the hop shock department. I am noticing more grapefruit influence as the taste builds (and build it does) toward the finish. Surprisingly little bitterness for this hop level, I've had a much more bitter bite from lower IBU brews, and there seems to be a richness to the hop intensity.
