Not all Fedex / UPS threads are horror stories

Just got a package this week & found this sticker attached to the box:

Apparently the box got damaged in transit & they took the liberty to repack it. No broken glass, all the bottles looked to make it intact & safe. I guess it's a 50/50 whether you get the employee with a god complex or the employee who cares enough to get your package safely to you.

Does anyone else have a good Fedex / UPS experience to share?

I would bet that repacking or shipping back to the sender happens way more than the destruction of a box, at least with Fedex. It's just that every time a box is held hostage you're going to hear all the gory details of the horror story. But most people don't bother talking about the more boring side of a box being cleaned up and sent right on.

Nice, good to hear a success story from a shipping company.

I sometimes wonder how many amazing beers have been lost over the years through shipping mishaps or confiscation by shipping companies. Then I stop so I don't get tears in my glass of chocolate rain, (acquired through trade and delivered by fedex of course.)

Glad to hear that. I just got a dreaded "Delivery Exception; Damaged, handling per shipper instructions" notice on a box heading my way.. but the shipper has not yet been contacted, so who knows. Hoping for a result like the one you got!

I sent out a box once as a proxy that had damage. The only way I knew was the other person was curious as to why I didn't use the box he sent me, and why I did a shitty job packing. I was highly confused as I did send his box, and packed it very well. Turns out a bottle broke and they repacked it, though it was a bad job of repacking, it was nice they sent it on. I am guessing someone majorly screwed up in damaging the box, hence why it was a completely different box and they sent it on. Almost a "we won't tell if you won't" kind of deal.

Agreed, heck most of the people I've dealt with at Fedex are super chill. The guy who delivers to my work & blabber on about sports when he comes in with a package, stand up dude.

Hope everything works out with your box, cheers!

I have tried talking to my FedEx guy, but he is not interested. He does his job well and is friendly, but I can tell he is not willing to "get to know" his customers. Which is fine, SD is a big city and i am sure he is busy, plus he usually delivers at my house around 5-5:30pm, so I am guessing that is towards the end of his shift and he is ready to go home.

My mail man on the other hand comes right around lunch, and I see him every once in a while when i come home for lunch. He is super friendly and likes talking for a minute or two.

Where I drop off my boxes I always make sure to be very polite and nice to the employees. I smile, say "thank you", "have a nice day". I want to leave them happy and think I am a nice guy so they are less likely to feel any urge to check/question my boxes.

Way to make sure no one takes your last name to heart. (For those in the know, this is funny!!!)

    Cheers!

It's interesting when bottles die - give us dirty laundry

I do like it when I joke with friends and they call me an asshole, because then I get to correct them... "No, I am a Dick"

Had my first box returned this week. It was Cali bound with BCBS and other Mid-West goodies when someone decided to destroy it. To my surprise only one of the sixteen BCBS were broke and everything else in the box had been repacked and returned to me. That was one delicious smelling box when I opened it up. Very thankful that the UPS person didn't care and returned the rest to me without word or warning about such behavior. With a little more luck, my trading partner will get a long over due box next week!
